Title: Gore-ultimate soldier on monster fusion
Post by bushman99 on 27.12.03 at 00:02:31
here's the prob-game requires 100% opengl card.I got her going with the diamond drivers and Fantasma's opengl32 file but it takes 5 minutes(seems like it anyway)for every click or mouse movements-frame rate must be at.05 per minute.I was wondering of there is a way to speed that up or get better drivers...etc

Here's my specs

p2 333
320 megs ram
win 98 se
fixed swap file
16 mb monster fusion

any ideas?(btw-i know i'm running a dinausaur;-))

yes.
dont use Fantasma's opengl dll its 100% software

use the MesaFX from 3dfxzone
http://www.3dfxzone.it/news/puntatore.php?uid=135

-----
install procedure is simple and fast, it has these following steps:

Unzipping the archive named mesafx_0.51x.zip

Copying file named glide3x in Windows/System32 folder (MS Windows XP users)

Copying file named glide3x in Winnt/System32 folder (MS Windows 2000 users)

Copying file named glide3x in Windows/System folder (MS Windows 9X* users)

Copying file named openGL32 in game folder

Make a go to www.3dfxzone.it and download the banshee evolution 0.9 drivers, I think, they are the best available ;)
Update: if they donīt have it, you can download it from here:

The only thing that I think you can do is doing a restart in your computer and put it in safe mode.
Then, extract the banshee drivers and then, copy all .dll files, all .drv files, all .vxd, all .ovl files and all .inf files into the c:\windows\system folder. Itīs a little risky

Attention: Iīm not responsible if your computer stop responding or not boot up.

I think that if it doesnīt boot, you could restart into safe mode and reinstall the diamond monster drivers :)

The Diamond Monster Fusion card is a Banshee card. In fact, I build the Evolution Drivers using a Monster Fusion Z100 AGP card. (then, the Evo drivers are PERFECT for in your card).
Your problem sounds like something more complex....
Mmmmh... maybe the best way to fix all is start in safe mode (vga) and then open the c:\windows folder, and erase all the 3dfx banshee files from the system folder, and all the 3dfx inf and pnf (compiled inf files) files form the inf folder... ( a safe mode to do this is open  a window with the content of a driver and then, make comparison of filenames). Reboot (if ok, windows will start in vga mode again)... and then install the Evolution drivers again...

agp cannot be disabled by jumpers:-(
card works fine with fusion drivers-i just want to be able to play open gl games with raziel's drivers

even when i try to upgrade the bios of the fusion-it sees the agp as the card:-(

must be a way to turn that agp off instead of it running in the back

I'll keep u posted-at least we're making progress;-)

Hmmm..

From the FAQ's for the M760V :

Q.  How do I disable the integrated video?
The audio is disable via jumpers on the motherboard.  Consult your motherboard manual for jumper number and position.  Video is disabled in the system BIOS.

Technically, if you have the Banshee connected to your Monitor Cable (and obsiously you see something), it should be active and running.
Since Win98 does have Dual-Display support, however, it might still attempt to yield the (possibly still not installed) Onboard Video the "primary Display Adapter" status, leading to erroneous behaviour.

Since you did a new Install, here's a few things people often forget after that :

- Install Chipset/Motherboard Drivers before anything else
(basic Drivers come with the Motherboard CD, but newer ones from the Internet are recommended)

- check for resource Conflicts in the Device Manager

- install Drivers or boot in Windows Safe Mode (press F8 before Booting Windows, or type " Win /D:M " from a command prompt to launch in Safe mode)

- free unused Resources (Disable all unused components from Bios, e.g. COM1/2 Ports, LPT, Onboard Sound if not used, Midi Port, Onboard Video of course since you have the Banshee installed) to reduce the risk of resource conflicts.

In short, 'one of those PC-Chips' Motherboards...
If you ever plan to buy a new Motherboard, just make sure it isn't a PC-Chips one, since they've been known for years to be very cheap, but extensively troublesome Motherboards to operate ::)

I didn't even find any Video Driver for the M760-Board in their VGA Driver Download Section, so I reckon it is the generic SiS Video Driver they've got listed there (yet lacking for what Board it shoud be used in the first place  :P )

Unfortunately, I can't download the Manual from their Taiwan Server right now, so I can't confirm the mentioned Disabling of Onboard Video...
