Title: Odd 3dfx Card
Post by Mikko on 23.02.03 at 18:43:39
Hello!

I have would like to know what is the type if my 3dfx display card which came with a computer I bought few weeks ago. Here are some identification marks about the card:

In the circuit board there is a text "(c) 1999 3dfx".
It has four memory chips and four places are still free.
Memory chips are made by Samsung and type(?) of the chips is KM4132G112Q-6.
The card has one heat sink (black) without fan.
On the left side of the heat sink there is a sticker with text "2.15.06" .

I think the card is Voodoo 3 2000 PCI, but all the pictures I have seen about V3 2000 cards looks little a bit different.

What is the best driver for my card? Which ROM version I should use? My computer is Macintosh G3 (300 MHz) running Mac OS 9.22. Where can I found the software (tools and the driver)?

Hmm...

This can only be a Voodoo3 2000 or a Velocity.

In case this is an OEM Card, it may have 8MB instead of 16MB.

I would simply try the latest Voodoo3 Driver, and see if it works.
There is one Mac Voodoo3 Package that contains Mac Bios Files as well, in case you want to flash (not recomended unless really needed! )

And are you sure this is a Mac 3dfx Card ?

Here are some Links to Mac 3dfx Pages :

Hm, from the looks I would guess an 8MB Velocity...

It would be probably best to install it into a PC, and view the initial Boot screen (the 3dfx Bios will display the GPU, Video Memory and Bios Revision for a few seconds).
