Title: Guilty Gear XX - PROBLEM
Post by dlc on 20.10.04 at 03:37:43
I have problem to start this FANTASTIC game..

Well.. I know that it is 2D game with some 3D functions (requires DirectX 9), and that my PC matches the game requirements.
My PC - Celeron 533MHz, 256MB RAM, Voodoo3 8MB, Windows 98!!!

BUT!! When I start instalaton, and try to choose the default directory (folder).. Windows JUST CAN't make the folder and I must change name of install folder. I know why computer have this problem - it is because it can't create folder with "strange" symbols (it is a Japaneeze game and Windows shows them strange like - c:\program files\guilty gear xx *** reload\).

I said OK, and changed dir (like c:\program files\gg\) and instalation continues NORMALY.

And at the very end, game instaler stops when I must confirm creation of folder in START menu!!! Of course instaler wants to create dir named as originaly game name with few "strange" symbols! And here is my problem!! Only options I can choose are: Yes and NO. If I choose yes the same screen pops again with the same question, and again and again. If I choose NO, the game (NATURALY) commits UNINSTAL!!

So ANYONE... Help me if U got idea !!!???  :-/

p.s.
Sorry for my "bad" English, hope you understanded my problem.

Hm, have you tried simply killing the Installer at that point via the Task Manager ?

If the actual Installation was completed at that time, with only the Start Menu entry missing (that is usually the case), that dirty little trick might work ;)

Otherwise, you could (at the right moment, with the Dialog Box waiting for your reply) copy both the Installed Game Directory and export the respective new Registry entries to a safe location, let the thing do it's automatic Uninstall, and in the end, simply copy/rename the Game folder back into place and restore the new Registry entries again.

Hay, Thanx man!
I'll try that as soon as I can! (BTW I allready tryed that thing with killing installer, but the game refused to work...).  :-/

Now - I'll try that thing with a Registry.

Note!! : This is a game that requires DirectX 9!! Is it going to wotk with voodoo... ?  ::)

Thanx again!!
