Title: nVidia 6800 cards okay with Voodoo2? Post by procerus on 18.09.04 at 17:42:22
Hi,
does anyone know if nVidia's latest GPU works okay with a Voodoo2? Any problems reported? ??? My GeForce2 GTS is well overdue for retirement. TIA procerus |

Hm, chances are, you'd be the first one to try out ;)
But I don't see any conflict, since those good old Voodoo2's have (so far) cooperated with about every other Card existing. (apart from a few, isolated reports of Problems with Radeon 9x00 Cards) Since last time I tried myself, it worked flawless besides a Radeon 9700pro, I'm quite optimistic about it. |

I wish to report that the 6800 GT works perfectly with Voodoo2 SLI! ;D
The GeForce 6 series appears to support VGA and VESA modes perfectly (indeed this 6800 is better than my GeForce2 in that it runs the DOS game Flight Unlimited without any programs running to modify the VESA mode for compatibility). And a minor mode switching issue I had that meant I had to run Half-Life menus in windowed mode if I run the games (as I prefer) on my Voodoo2 SLI is fixed too! A big thumbs up to nVidia's new cards then! Plus my card came with a copy of Doom3 and I must admit that I'm pretty impressed with the graphics myself even if the game so far reminds me more of System Shock 2 than anything else. |

Isn't the 6800 GT the SLI version of the 6xxx series? ;D

I'm hoping to win a 6800gt
Hmmzzz.. well the chance that I win is 1 out of 500. More chance that a lottery ;). Thank god it works with the V2 SLI. Because that's the system where the 6800 would go. |

At that time I was using Win98SE and the 3dfx V3.02.02 Reference Driver.
Quick tests were run with Unreal Tournament (Glide) and 3D Mark (Direct3D) on the Voodoo. Generally, the Card behaved completely normal, no Problems observed :) |
