According to Marketplate ROEs, EBay Items do not belong here.

I'll move it into the News section, as there's likely a high Interest for the card :)

Thanks mates!  it's been almost a month since I won the item and it finally shipped on Tuesday.  I should get this next week.   8-)

I will take lots of pictures!  I need to get my girlfriend to bring her camera when she comes over next so I can take better pictures than my cell phone can.

Congrats Bro!  I wish I could see your pics... but I am at work and PB is blocked... and I wont dare load the images over RDC.  I will have to wait and see... but I'm SURE it looks AMAZING!!!   :o

/Edit

I decided to struggle and load the images over RDC and WOW WOW WOW!!! Amazing!  Those stickers look great! (and obviously the card does too!)

I can't wait to see a nice pic of the card running and seeing the "motion blurred" 3dfx fans :)

Shame the card doesn't have internal hookup. :-/

You might want to consider getting that added - as the "Voodoo Volts" (whilst cool) are not a good idea. :P

Basically you would be running the card from an external PSU that has a separate Ground to the PC PSU - not clever! ::)

BTW - I like how the previous owner has tested for Clock speed vs BIOS number. 8-)

Hey Paul!

Sorry I didn't win your V5 5500 PCI boxed card today.   ::)  I really tried.  At least you got some more money.

BTW, as for the power for my v56k.....
I use a Molex to 1pin power connector.  My case has two holes in the back fo the case made for wires going in and out of the case.  Here's some pics:

I'll be posting some info once the card has been installed and tested.   8-)  The fun part of it all!!!!

Heh, a molex mod - sweet! :)

As for my boxed V5500 - was won by some British bloke... :-?

(eBay I.D. kept secret for obvious reasons) 8-)

Why is that a shame? In Agent500s opinion is every card with the internal hookup no original Voodoo 5 6000 anymore.

That card should be run with the voodoo volts. He wanted to keep it in the original shape.

Very true.  I had some good long talks with Agent500 and I think the same why he does.  I want to keep the card as close to factory spec as possible.  I really like the 3dfx stickers instead of the AAVID stickers.

I personally think that the Molex/1pin solution is the best out there.
1 - no card modification
2 - no separate power supply providing (unsafe?) power
3 - only Kokohemmo has the same Molex adapter, so it's pretty rare, for a rare card.

Hi

I have made the molex power plug adapter and it works.  I have only tested it in short time.

I have also tested my voodoovolts and it worked, but in this case also just a testing for it. I had heard that voodoovolts may do voltage clitches, which may damage the card.

razrx: Be carefull if you are using the power plug connection. I don't know is that safe way to power up the card thru power plug for longer use. Anyways power plug connection with molex  should be more safier than voodoovolts.

Normally I power up my card internal hookup straight to the card with molex connection.

Kokohemmo

Hey Kokohemmo!

Good to hear from you.  Thanks for the comments!

It seems to me to make perfect sense though to use a Molex connector to 1pin as the Molex provides 12V power, which is what the v56k requires.  I'm assuming that 4.2amps is controlled at the 1pin adapter?

Hi again

I made my cable molex wiring just two wires. It might be good thing to attach the second GND also, as it is in Internal molex wiring.

I think I will make a cable myself, hopefully better one.  I went to The Dodge Garage, and saw this info:

"Hank Semenec indicates his leads come from a ATX power supply to P4 Motherboard power adapter cable. The P4 motherboards have a mandatory square 4 pin power connector that is required for operation, hence the adapter for ATX power supplies missing them. A quick Google search shows many vendors with these cable for sale at a few bucks a pop. Lop the 4 pin plug off, ...."  (http://www.thedodgegarage.com/3dfx/v6k_faq.htm)

I have one of those 4 pin power connectors already, but where would I get a 1 pin 4.6Amp-12V cable and connector?
