Title: PC prices, what to sell them at??
Post by jandarsun8 on 05.04.06 at 15:47:33
I've got two machines that are all most identical and need to get rid of them for space and money (besides, I've got two faster ones to replace them). One is a Dell, the other is a Compaq. The Dell is a PIII 877 MHz, the Compaq is a PIII 800MHz, Both are running Windows 2K, have 384 megs of PC133, 20 gig HD, Sound Blaster Esonic sound cards, CD Burners (for the Dell, the cd burner is the only drive in the thing, the Compaq has an additional DVD player in it) and the video cards are different. The Dell has an Nvidia TNT 2 16 meg card, the Compaq has a 8 meg ATI Rage card in it. Was thinking of 150. a piece. What do you guys think?

They are running pretty decent with 2K in them. It's the two boxes that I was running 98SE and my V5 and Kryo II cards to play some old games with a friend of mine. Shaddow Warrior being the big one.

hmm both for 150 euro's would be more resonable say 75 euro's per PC okay 80 Euro's for the 866Mhz system and 75 for the 800, do remember these are very old, for 150 Euro's you can get a Sempron 2800+ S754, Mobo + 512MB  Ram so 150 US dollars per PC is rather too high.

so like 80 bucks at the most per unit, but you can always give ebay a shot you can get more for what it may be worth @ ebay :) hehe I sold mu old PC"s there as well, ebay works like a charm, for your system's I'd say starting bid @ 25 bucks and see from there in 7 days alot can happen, thier layouts look neat so you should do very well :)

Thanks Obi, that's kind of why I wanted to ask what others thought before doing anything with them. I kind of need the cash, but the last thing I want to do is screw anyone over so it's why I was asking what you guys thought.

hehe norries mate norries at all, but yeah my experience with ebay was amazing, I just sold that AthlonXP Barton 2600+ system with keyboard, mouse CTX VL500 15" CRT Monitor, there was a KT333 board in it GF3 Ti500, 120GB HDD and an E-Tech 5.2 soundcard and ofcourse a Realtek 10/100MBit network card, in the systemcase it's self with 2 30cm long CCFL's one blue and the other green and 4 multi-colour Led fans, custom made Window and all.

here that system:

So I thought hmm it's ain't state of the art but it may be enough for a bigenner :) and hey I rather sell it with a GeForce than a Voodoo :D since Voodoo's are precious items  ;D that's typical 3dfx spirit of mine hehe.

so I was thinking like hmm could ask around for like 400 Euro's for it then I checked it's date and nah 400 euro's totally impossible so I came around at 220 euros, afther that I put it on the dutch Marktplaats for 12 days and it didn't get higher than 150 euro's there were some idiot's bidding 290 for it I mailed them like 2 times a week they never responded so that plan was like a failure, so my mate said Post it on ebay I am damn sure it will sell :)

SO did that and it was sold withing the exact 7 day time period, that last day the buyer called me up and said when may I come and pick it up I was like WoW!!! Anytime what you fell is the best time for your needs, he said 20:00PM okay , I said Norries at all that will be fine before you are here Coffee shall be served :D He laughed and yeps @ 20:00 hours he arrived with his son made the payment via my laptop and he showed me that the money was transferred propperly and I helped him pac in and carry downstairs then I asked him for a drink he said nah not that thursty I have a long drive upahead hehe I said drive carefully mate and thank you for your quick respons he answered it was great doing buisness with you hope to meet again.

Well that is one of my fastest and most successfull ebay sales ever.

Not a bad deal man, nice looking case. Wiring had something to be desired for though. hehehe   ;)  I'll look at ebay and see what other machines with similiar specs are going for and take it from there, you might be right though, might be my best option as far as selling them goes. Thanks man.   :)
