Title: no cables , manual or DVI adaptor plug Post by Gil Theissen on 01.11.04 at 12:59:48
I just picked up a Voodoo3 3500/TV at the fleamarket but it didn't come with the original cables, a DVI adaptor or a manual. I'm at a loss to figure out if I can jury rig some alternative way to conect it to any of my monitor s (all of which have only the standard vga/analog plugs) so I can try out the TV function. Can anyone give me a link where I could D/L a manual or tell me how (or if it's even possible) to rig something up without the OEM connector cables.
Thanks - Gil theissen giltheissen@prodigy.net |

Hm, never seen a Voodoo3 3500/TV operate without its massive "Pod" (blue Connector with all required I/O Brackets)
If there is an Option to use cheap alternative Cablings, I'm not aware of it. Worst case, you'll have to look onto EBay to pick up this blue Pod (they appear there once a while, e.g. if their Cards have failed, and usually go dirt cheap). |

Uh oh, looks like this might mean three dollars down the drain. Hmmm, in the meantime, and in case I decide to get creative with my splicing efforts, can you tell me which of the two coaxial TV plugs on the card (top or bottom) is for input and which is for output?

If you have two of them, that might indicate you have the NTSC/FM Version.
I'm actually not sure what for the 2nd BNC-type connector is, but it is IMHO not for TV out. I will recheck with my own Retail NTSC Version to make sure :) |

I thought the 'BNC' connectors (what I called coaxial connectors) were for the TV - one for the antenna or cable input and out for output (somehoe) to the TV monitor. I get the impression that I'm completely wrong about this now. Is one of them at least for the TV antenna input?
And what about TV output? Does that come out through the same DVI connector plug that the ordinary video signal to the monitor comes out? In other words, to enjoy TV on my monitor - other than perhaps for an antenna - do I even need to worry about the two BNC connectors? Gil Theissen |

Won't the V3 3500TV AGP work with just a standard DVI-CRT adapter? As an alternative to the pod?
Also, would the pod work on a Voodoo5 MAC's DVI port, to enable some sort of S-Video functionality on the Voodoo5? ??? :-/ |

That's what I assumed when I bought the card. Unfortunately, I was surprised to find out that a standard DVI/analog adapter won't fit - the width is the same, but the length 1s too short. So it looks like voodoo's plug is proprietary and without the actual cabling, I'm completely outta luck.
