*urgs*

Technically... yes.

But is a PCchips Board, which by far is the worst Motherboard maker I have seen in my life :P

Unless you see widespread positive feedback from other Users for this specific Board, I'd say stay way clear...

Hmmm, they haven't got the best of reputations as a company, I know.

However this particular board seems to have got really good feedback from users.

I don't need a rocket ship platform, and as the board is only £15 with the VAT, I thought why not give it a go.

However I will have a look at alternatives- any suggestions? Don 't want to spend any more than £30.

Andy

Some agp 4x boards will support the voodoo's AGP 1-2x, 3.3 volt requirements, I'm not so familiar with this board and I did'nt see what chipset it use's, would probably be best to contact the manufacturer and verify before buying if your really interested.

I bought an ECS K7S5A pro (great cheap budget board) and an Athlon 2400 for around $100 Canadian to use in my  Voodoo 5500 themed case, these cards scale very well with modern processors and faster FSB's (266 or 333) and I definately noticed the increased performance from a pentium 3 1,000 mhz.

Try this link for some compatible boards:

To make a long story short :

All AMD Boards based on these Chipsets are fully 3.3V AGP compatible :

ALi Magik
VIA KT133
VIA KT133a
VIA KT266
VIA KT266a
VIA KT333
VIA KT333a (except latest ones with CD or CE Stepping)
SiS 735

Exception
Some Versions of the boards were built with an AGP Pro Slot, which is normally not 3.3V AGP compatible.

According to the Specs, the Voodoo5 AGP should run just fine on it (?)

Hi
I know Falcon postet above that all KT 133a based Boards will run the Voodoo 5 but i have to ask aggain.
Can I run a Voodoo 5 AGP on a Asus A7V133-C with an AGP-Pro Slot ( what exactly is an AGP Pro Slot? ^^).

I found this Link, which seems quite good :

http://www.ertyu.org/~steven_nikkel/agpcompatibility.html

According to it, the AGP Pro Slot comes in 2 Versions, keyed for 3.3V support, and one Keyed for 1.5V support.

Generally :
- AGP Pro slot was a workaround to allow for more power to AGP Cards
- was seldomly used however (nowadays, Cards take additional Power Connectors directly from the Power Supply instead)
- was generally noted to be not compatible with older 3.3V AGP Cards
(as it was future oriented, I assume most were built with the 1.5V 4xAGP variant in mind, never actually heard of or seen a 3.3V variant myself)

So it looks like the A7V133-C is a special case, not supporting a Voodoo5.

ASUS description reads :  "AGP Pro/4X"

(I'll therefor have to correct/edit my above posting)

<--- Blacki i registered

So i had a closer look at the AGP-Pro of my A7V133-C and if i go after this pic:

it is an AGP-Pro Universal. I will upload a pic later.
My second Mainboard i would have here is an Elitegroup K7S5A Pro in Revision 5.0 . The Port on this Board looks like a normal AGP Universal. But the Manual says 1,5 V Cards only. Someone has experiance with this Board and 3,3 V AGP-Cards?
Last Question:
I am right and is it not possible to insert a 3,3V Card into a 1,5V Slot so you theoretically can't damage it at all?

Hum,
http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=1417&p=3

I read the manual and i saw also "complies with Agp 2.0 specifications for 4x, 2x and 1x Agp modes"
http://www.asus.it/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7V133-C

The best would be to try an old card (agp 2x, 3.3 v) or indeed to find an other mobo.

Ah thx  patience saw this Post too late... Because of this beeing an review of the A7V133 i can be sure that the Card will run on my mobo!
Thx for all people here helping me!
