I know this is a 3DFX site but frankly you guys and gals here are some of the most informative and most helpful people I've come accross, so I hope you can help me.

I want to confirm if the 8.1.9.8 driver version is the most up to date driver for my Nvidia GeForce4 4200 TI. Can any one tell me if it is, or if it isn't, where to find the latest drivers?

Have you checked nVidia's website?

Select Download Drivers and for product type choose 'Legacy', for Product Series select GeForce4 Ti Series and then select your OS and language.

That should give you the latest WHQL certified driver.

There's a newer beta driver available which you can find through the Beta and Archived Drivers submenu in the Download Drivers menu.
