yes,you need a fast system,but I wouldnt go as far as sayig it has to be ridiculously fast-a dualcore cpu with frequency around 3GHz and a decent graphics card will do nicely,if the game is fully supported.in fact,many "lighter" (final fantasy X) games run decently even on my secondary machine (x2 4400 running at 2.2GHz with radeon x1950pro).and the iq is superb,if you run it in hi res and crank up AA nad FSAA
FF12 running in hi-quality mode (there is no way a 4400 can run this fast enough,at least not now):

btw,PCSX2=pc stresstest extreme,if you need to kick the cr@p out of both cores to see if your cooling can handle it,there is nothing better than few rounds of FF12
note: pcsx2 does not run ps1 games-you should use epsxe for that (as already mentioned),it can improve the graphics quite a bit as well,if you play a bit with the graphics settings..
