Title: Just got an odd card
Post by Eye-Q on 20.01.05 at 18:45:52
I found a card at ebay which i have never seen before:

Front

Back

As you can see the places for the connectors and some more chips are present, and at the back side there is memory, too. Anyway, it can't be a Q3D-card because of the missing connectors for the shadecard and the missing marks.
At the back side right above the sticker there is the number "600-0013-05" (i couldn't catch it because my cam isn't as good as i want ;) ). Afaik the number "600-0013-02" marks the obsidian 50-4220 and the 50-4400 but i couldn't find any hints on this number.

Maybe anyone here has seen such a card. ???

It's a Magic 3D Plus from Skywell Technology if I'm not mistaken. Seems to be an 8MB card :D

(Makes sense since the Magic 3D is a 4MB card)

It's a Magic 3D card as the board states, a low end Voodoo board maker from Asia.

The ram chips are of odd configuration, I don't know if it is 4 meg board with 1/4 mb chips or an 8 meg board with 1/2 mb chips. I suspect the former since it does state it's a voodoo graphics plus.

Date on the chips state Febuary 1998, so it's late to the party for a Voodoo Graphics board. The Voodoo II was released at the same time the chips on this board were made.

Thanks for the quick replies, i already thought it would be a Skywell but i wonder why the card apparently has the PCB of a Q3D-Card...
The ebay-auction states it is an 8 meg-board but i couldn't find out if it's proper. I installed the board but i didn't want to install drivers so tools like everest Home Edition and SiSoft Sandra unfortunately didn't state the amount of RAM. :-/

If you mean 'Q3D-baord' as in black, this is not a rarity I'm afraid.  There are many other 3dfx boards that have been built upon darker PCB's, such as STB's BlackMagic 3D2 (later evolving into the 3dfx V2 1000 PCI model).

No no, i know that there are non-Q3D-cards in black but no ones with the places for the connectors. ;)
Look at the Link "Front" and you know what i mean. ;)

yes this board looks like the 3dfx reference version, of the obisidians. There is the capability to enable SLI with a little soldering offcourse.

Wish it was that easy- Already tried that so my dual card SLI rig would run again, no such luck.

There are other changes to the boards.
