Title: 3DFX cards wattage?
Post by RaptorZX3 on 08.06.15 at 23:57:41
I tried looking on the net and i can't find anything that talk about the 3DFX cards and how much wattage they need. I know it might be a negligible amount, but i still want to know, because sometimes you find an old computer and the wattage from the power supply is kinda low, for example, that IBM 300PL i found yesterday have a power supply of only 90W, and it seem to be hard to replace since it doesn't have any switch, seem to be AT (Windows 98 says the "it's safe to turn your computer off" when shutting it down), and 1 power connector on it (no monitor connector).

Most precisely, i would like the wattage consumption for the Voodoo1 and 2, since this IBM 300PL (the model i have is a Pentium 233MMX, PCI and ISA only) would be great with a Voodoo1, 2 or 2SLI.

thanks.

If memory serves me correct the VSA-100 (Voodoo4 & 5) had a tdp of 14Watts. At least, that's a number I remember regarding that chip.

I can't imagine Voodoo Graphics (SST-1) or Voodoo2 (SST-2) consuming more.

For reference, Voodoo5 5500 consumes about 35 watts (6000 about 65 watts).
