HOT Voodoo TV!

Anyone ever noticed how hot the TV tuner chipsets get when in use?  I tested both my Voodoo TV sets and they both got extremely hot on the chrome-covered area.  Yet they function prefectly fine!  Undecided  I left them running for over 5 hours and they would have melted my fingers if I'd have touched them! Shocked

Why do they get so hot, and how can they manage to work under such harsh temperatures?

Actually, this seems to be a general problem with Voodoo cards - seems to be when they're in an Athlon MB (although I'm not sure if this is the ONLY factor). Tongue

My V3 1000 got ROASTING hot until I fan-modded the sucka'! Shocked

Like you said - temperatures that could fry an egg! Shocked

Yeah, but rather than basing it on a VGA chip from a 2D/3D card, I'm talking about the chrome unit on the TV tuner cards.  To me, this feels hotter than any 3dfx chipset that's been running for a while!  I just wondered as to why the TV tuner chips run so hot?  I wouldn't think they would have to perform as much operations and processes as a VGA card would.
