CPU Vote
10.12.03 at 14:23:28

Okay, vote time.  This includes all 3dfx users for ALL cards.
Out of your experience from your machines, which processors have you had the most success out of (while using your 3dfx card in that machine)?

Some of you may not have tried more than one brand of CPU, or some may feel there has been no difference. But vote accordingly:

1. Intel
2. AMD
3. Other
4. Not noticed any difference between any, can't side.

hehe, what choice I made (AMD) is available for public view in my Network Page Wink

I did use intel's before, but that pretty much stopped after upgrading my Pentium II 400MHz to my first AMD Athlon, a long time back.

P.S.
When i think about my problem with the Voodoo² on VIA's VP3 and the trouble with the AGP Voltage on new boards you should better ask with which chipsets we had the most succes.

My twin V2's were tested in...

My AthlonXP 2400+ ... WORKED! Grin

They now live in my Dual P-II server and STILL kick A$$! 8)

As for my uncle...

His V5500 AGP tested in...

AthlonXP 1800+ ... WORKED Grin

Now resides in Intel Celeron machine. Cheesy

(note, both of these 'moves' were due to changing the GFX card in the original system to a Radeon...and I KNOW that my V2's would work with a Radeon, but I keep re-installing my catalyst drivers WAY too often! Whatever!!!) Roll Eyes

Nuff said! Tongue

Don't get a Palomino, Thoroughbreds run so much cooler, and there's a possibility of them being unlocked...sorry, in overclock mode tongiht  Grin

I definately think AMD kicks a$$, wether it be with or without a Voodoo. My V5 used to be right at home with my Palomino 1800+ (hence my advice above), but unfortunately, being the fastest thing I have, I needed real DX 9 support, so I got a Radeon 9500. My V5 will soon make it's home with a P3 850, a large step up from the P2 350@467 that it used to be in, but it will never be the same as with the athlon.

hehe, already done, read system specs..you're right, the thing runs crappity smackin hot, but i had to buy one 'cause my former mobo didn't support t-breds..anyway i unlocked the cpu with one of those little conducting pads (attacked on the bridges with some tesa. but as you see i can't get the thing higher than 1.6GHz before it turns down (that's because it is from the first production weeks & was meant to be the leading edge)
now I'm looking forward to buy a barton. Grin
