Title: Voodoo2 low resolutions tip
Post by nudgegoonies on 15.02.03 at 09:44:30
I use the latest V2 reference drivers and have a problem with the higher than 60hz modes in 512x384 and 640x400. The 640x480 and 800x600 modes i run at 85hz and the 1024x768 at 60 (i use a strange old 19' NEC MULTISYNC XL build 1990 or 91). The V2 control panel allows the setting of 60, 75, 85 and 120 for every resolution except the 512x384 and 640x400 where the 60hz option is mission. But for my sake they only run in 60hz. But also these resolutions run in 60hz if you use regedit (HKLM,Software,3DFX, VOODOO2, GLIDE and D3D) and edit c:\windows\voodoo2.var. I now run's fine for me (i only have one game that needs 512x384). I think this is a bug in the voodoo2 control panel because both resolutions work with 60hz.

Regards,
Andreas

P.S.
Everytime you run the v2 control panel the refresh rates are set back to 75 hz. Is this also a bug or a feature?  ;)

I presume even then the driver team were making assumptions about people's monitors!  But it is a shame if driver flexibility is being lost because of the limits of the control panel.  :(
