Nice! 8) Now utilize that power on something really video intensive, like TES4: Oblivion (the most beautifull & complex comp graphics yet):

dunno yet Martin hehe, My Mobo, CPU and Ram has to be ordered first but I couldn't leave the card alone hehe it has it's own beauty also Ya know hehe you're a card collector or not ;) hehe 3dfx and ATi are very welcome here.
I've heard that these things are quite in idle mode but when heavy work is comming they tent not to be that loud hehe turn up the music if that happens haha poor neighbourhood lol |

That's one nice thing about NVidia's 7900GTX... that massive reference cooler is pretty quiet compared to anything else in the high-end market (not counting 3rd-party cooling solutions).

Well if that is it's only advantage I rather choose for the Ati Radeon X1900 XTX if you look at raw processing power it's simply amazing.
for Noisy Fans I have good Sennheiser PX-200 headphones nothing like fans can pennetrate those ;) anyways the noise of the Fan isn't too bad some people can exagerate that sometimes lol. |

You obviously never used Thermaltake Vulcano 6cu+ or FOP 32/38... or a russian 35cm rubber fan that blows directly into MB because of over - OC 8) |

Well Friday night I put my friends new machine together for him and bought the 1900XT 512 meg card and the thing is pretty quiet.
His specs are as follows AMDX2 64bit 4200+, 2 gig Corsair duel channel DDR 3200 on an Asus ATI x200 chipset Crossfire ready motherboard along with the X1900XT vid card, 2X 250 Gig WD drives that we setup in RAID 0. From the time that we hit enter after punching in the cd key for Windows to the time it showed the desktop was about 8 minutes for a complete install of Windows. Just insane. His machine is running quiter then my box which has two more additional fines then mine so that was kind of cool. It's one of the worst things I hate doing though, building a machine for someone else that's faster then mine. The whole time I was building it, I was drooling. ;D The X1900XT card ROCKS though, damn is that a nice card. We installed FarCry and COD 2 before I left (was about 2 in the morning when we got done updating and installing the other apps) and FarCry with everything maxed out, with res of 1600X 1200 ran smooth as silk, no hiccups at all. Just crazy. CoD 2 looked and played WAAAAAAY better then my 9600xt ever could run. Everything maxed out still played smooth. I'm jealous. |

God help you for putting two WD drives in RAID-0. That's like putting all of your money in a baggie and then throwing it in Niagara Falls.
:'( :P ;D |

The enterprise class Raptor drives have a pretty good reputation but everything else... Westen Digital just doesn't have the reputation they once had IMHO. If it's just for gaming then no problem of course. |

LOL Renner, I know, it's how he wanted it set up though and after doing the install and watching the games, although I don't agree with the hard drive choice, I'm WAY impressed on the speed though. It's only for gaming so if one of those drives goes down, he's not out to much. I have his Documents folder mapped to his server so he's cool there.
His whole thing for spending his entire tax return on this was that it'll last him at least 4 years and if he dumps in another 1900XT for the crossfire mode it'll go for 6 (for him, that's a record without upgrading something). Either way I know what I'm doing for my setup when I can finally get a chance to creating it. Oh, by the way Obi, Seagate bought out/merged with Maxtor last year so just beaware that either Seagates quaility will come down or Maxtors will hopefully come up but either way, they're one company now. |

Yeah, I do like the Raptors. The 74GB pair I have now have never given me a moment's trouble, and remarkably they're relatively cool and quiet compared to some of the 7200rpm drives I've owned. I really, really want a pair of the new 150's. |

hehe well that's a good strat Gamma haha the cheapest X1900 XTX here in the netherlands is 515 Euro's so it's not too shabby about the same as a Voodoo5 5000 AGP ;D ;D ;D @ Ranner :) hmm that is very bad news then Ranner, I have heard that from a friend here too , damn, never knew that that would really happen :'( So Western Digital would be the wisest move then I ashume or Samsung? Just want to move as far away from Maxtor as I can, just to be honest. If you want to use the X1900 series in CrossFire a CrossFire Edition card is recemmended, only all cards to X1800GTO don't need a CrossFire Edition card with Catalyst 6.5 and up. but what you also can do is wait for ATi X2800XTX and use your X1900 series card as a PPU instead since it can doe 375 Giga flops per sec ;) an Ageia PPU card only can do 100 Giga Flops per sec hehe. you use the X2800 XTX for your main VGA and use the X1900 XTX as PPU aka Physics Processing Unit there by you would have a 80% increase in gameplay than by useing a crossfire setup hehe. this is because that otherwise the CPU would have to do all the map loading and Physics and when you have an ATi based RAddy as a PPU the CPU would only have to load the maps of the level to the VGA and the X1900 XTX as PPU would only do the physics. |
