Title: Voodoo Rush with Trident ProVidia 9685-1
Post by Thandor on 25.12.14 at 22:45:59
I was reading up some old stuff regarding the Voodoo Rush and found references to a Voodoo Rush equipped with a Trident chip. I always thought that Voodoo Rush with Trident chips was an idea that was never realized, until now. The cards must have existed in alpha development state. Anyone seen them?

References I found: link.

Quote:
Using The Trident ProVidia 9685-1 + Voodoo Rush reference design Card

   * Observed screen flashing problems in all the Demos and tests running
     Glide on the Trident part.
   * Experienced a corrupt cursor with Glide on the Trident part.
   * Trident card does not run on a PC with a SCSI PCI part.
   * Trident card does not run on a P6.
   * 2D drivers do not work well in high resolution modes > 800x600.

The WizMark V3.0.doc document found in the 3dfx Interactive Software Developer's Kit V1.0. It states:

Quote:
The ProVidia 9685-1 is a high performance integrated 3D, 2D, and video accelerator featuring the Voodoo Rush 3D chipset.  ProVidia is being developed in a partnership between Trident Microsystems and 3Dfx Interactive and as of print of this document it was in Alpha.

and as well is shows benchmarks:
Voodoo Rush with ProMotion AT3D: 16387 WizMarks
Voodoo Rush with ProVidia 9685-1: 15767 WizMarks
Voodoo Graphics : 17633 WizMarks

Also the Developers kit contains Trident driver in .\3dfx_Software_Developer_Kit_v10\D3D\Drivers\VRush\Trident
