Voodoo 5 only as 2D card
31.10.04 at 12:15:11

My problem is the follow:

i have a 3dfx System including a V2 SLI system and a V5 5500 AGP

now i want to multiboot the system with primary Win2k (V5) and secondary Win98 (for V2 SLI)

under Win2k theres no problem but under win98 i can't make the V5 running as a simple 2D VGA Card (640x480 @256 colors can't run)

someone an idea to install the V5 as a 2D card only

if i install the drivers for the V5 too, DirectX hangs up in setup, i cannot activate Direct3D in the Dxdiag Tools for the V2 SLI, WickedGL plays even with V5....

Undecided

Simple answer - NO! Sad

Complicated answer - No, because the drivers will conflict! Roll Eyes

If I had the time, I could try to see if the existing workarounds could be sqeezed into a such special-purpose Driver.

But since (so far) these are based on experience with other Cards/OS combinations or other Driver-sided effects, I'm not sure if it would actually work out in the end.

But from a purely technical viewpoint and the existing Utilities available, it "should" work except for a few old Glide Games with built-in Glide support (and if it works, it would not be very comfortable).
