The small "dead end" plug? Perhaps it's some sort of loop back test device.

Well, I think I'll keep it in the sealed package for now. Since I don't know what it's for, and all my Q3D video cards are functioning fine with out it. I thought maybe the part number might help.
If you find out anything on it, please let me know. |

Actually, only a couple of us have a functioning Mercury System. Others have only the brick and I don't know how many of those are functional. It wasn't until I recieved my third Brick that I got one that would function as a Mercury sub-System. Save your money, I may be selling mine soon on ebay. I need a black drive "Carrier" for it. The one I have is "White" and I think I just found one :D http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=56095&item=5748788345&rd=1 |

when you use the tv-out of the 100sb and don't connect a vga-display, the picture on the tv will be too brightly.
so you have to plug this connector to the vga-out on the 100sb and the picture will be in the right brightness. like pulldown-resistors. that's my theory. |

So if I understand you correctly, You only need it if you do NOT have a monitor hooked up while using the TV out function on the 100SB.
That's great. I am proud to be the owner of such a jewel. I have a 100SB in route to me and will put it to the test when it arrives. Thank you so much for your help. |

I have run 100SB with and without cables plenty of times and have noted no difference. |

No, you are correct, it is a Quantum3D sticker on the monitor. Big day today. I am waiting for VDX to show up here at my place. I have the Mercury set up side by side next my other Q3D machine with the 200SBi in it. I was running UNREAL (flyby). It is amazing the difference in image quality. I told him I would have him over once it is complete. It sure was fun putting this thing together. What next? Hmmm?? |

VDX, It was a pleasure having you over. It's not often I get to sit down with someone and discuss 3dfx. Nowadays, most of my friends who once owned 3dfx only want to discuss their newest Nv cards.
I envy you, having that V5 5000 AGP X 4 card. Until today I only seen pictures of such a rare item. Let me know how it works on the latest Win2K reference drivers. I was glad to see no anomalies in Win98 with the reference driver set. |
