Title: Voodoo3 2000 Driver
Post by MasterNJS on 19.04.06 at 13:01:51
Hi,

I am in need of working XP driver for Voodoo3 2000
I downloaded AmigaSport V3.0 WinXP/Win2K
-= Latest Release =-
from http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo3.htm
But that one keeps freezing on a few games (Unreal Tournament, Serious Sam.. etc)

I did some google and found out that the best driver for my Voodoo3 2000 card is Xpentor Voodoo 3 X-ForceDGL which is available on http://www.voodoofiles.com/4701 but as you can see the download link on that site is down

So I was wondering if someone from here can supply me with a working download link of
Xpentor Voodoo 3 X-ForceDGL for XP

Or any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Have you tried the latest patch for UT and try to run it in glide and wickedgl for ssam?

What is wickedgl?
Found it on http://www.falconfly.de/tools.htm and downloaded latest version and installed
But what does it do?

EDIT: I've noticed a wickedgl icon in the right corner when playing serious sam, what does this do?

Its an optimized 3dfx ogl driver. It will replace the existing one in the game directory and fix problems and optimize speed and compatibility. The 2.99b high res driver works fine for me in serious sam : the first encounter and the second encounter. It also worked fine with the latest patch (1.05 or 1.07 cant remember corectly) for the first encounter but failed on the second encounet when I installed an unofficial 1.5b patch  ???

Edit : it means the wickedgl driver is loaded  ;)

Seems to work good and it did not crash or freeze yet

Thanks  ;D

Generally, for those old Games (that run just fine on original Glide cores), older Drivers (like WickedGL) are recommended.

The newer Drivers do a great job on newer Games, but sometimes (for some) compatiblity with older Games is a tad lower.

It just crashed again...  :'(

Went playing again (serious sam) and screen froze after about 30 minutes and had to reboot

If anyone can tell me how I can find out what is causing the trouble?

30 mins is a long time to blame the drivers. My guess is that you have some kind of hardware problem that prevents you from playing too long. First thing I d do is to add a fan to the gpu heatsink. Then some prime, memtest, s&m and so on....

Just froze and crashed again after about 10 minutes playing...

Windows made some report about the error;

http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo3.htm

try some of them.....if they all keep crashing reconsider adding a fan to your voodoo's heatsink

Yep, sounds like overheating or another Resource conflict that causes the Video Driver to timeout and trigger the Error Event.

Get a fan for your V3 @MasterNJS - those things are notorious for overheating! ::)

...also Banshee cards...but you're only worried about your V3. :P
