hmm nothing speacial to be honest lol
the GeForce 7800GX2 and 7900 GX2 models look exactly the same also in size.
the bandwidth of a Crossfire X1900 XTX setup PWNzz that with ease
.
4x QuadroFX 4500 only have 24 Pixel Shader Processors per card so 4 adds up to 96 may sound impressive but isn't, 2 X1900 XTX caards in dongleless CrossFire have 48 Pixel Shader Processors each also counting 96 in total but then just in 2 cards
What it can't do is HDR + FSAA + AF at once it's HDR or FSAA + AF, so rather pointless to be very honest, okay it's big , it has Quad SFR [Split Frame Rendering] NV calls it SLI but infact [Scalable Link Interface] is no where near to 3dfx SLi aka Scan Line Interleave.
3dfx had a far better way of Quad SLI on just one PCB
The Voodoo5 6000, and also it's sad to see the the Killer of 3dfx mak'n such absurd designs while 3dfx did it on one PCB with larger cores @ .25 micron per core while these are 0.09 micron per core. LoL!!
it's also bad for the airflow as well, 4 huge walls in your PC yaay.
I'd like to see a 4 way CrossFire Xpress 3200 setup and then we shall se who wins qua Performance and Image quallity wise, CrossFire is just a better way of Multi VPU, it uses Tile Based Rendering, compared to NV's So called SLI which actually is SFR.
BTW it's totally unstable also:
"The continuous crashes, freezes and problems of the currently shipping Nvidia GeForce quad SLI systems may be associated with early revisions of the hardware, but as the hardware is shipping to customers, any issues with stability are totally unacceptable."LoL nice try NV.
here the source:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/geforce7900-quad-sli_10.html" The next FSAA mode – FSAA 16x – is too heavy for Quad SLI, at least if we try to get it to work in 1600x1200. Slow memory prevents the new platform from showing its potential and causes its complete failure in 1920x1200 and 2560x1600. Radeon X1900 XT CrossFire outperforms Quad SLI system by 19% and 28% correspondingly."that is where the true power of ATi's dual 48 Pixel Shader Processor based cards really get into action, and that for just 2 cards, and the X1900 XTX is not even being tested here heh
when it comes to max settings with the highest details ATi cards always start to shine
Like in Fear same settings:
" GeForce 7900 Quad SLI cannot outperform Radeon X1900 XT CrossFire despite the four graphics processors working altogether with FSAA 16x activated." same settings for HalfLife2 the X1900XT CrossFire setup still wins with ease, reso is 1600 x 1200:
" Radeon X1900 XT CrossFire supports Super AA 14x and hence works in slightly lighter conditions, however it has tremendous performance advantage over the GeForce 7900 quad SLI."Even Quake4 gets ATi PWNage
" GeForce 7900 quad SLI manages to perform better that dual-GPU SLI system in SLI AA 16x in 1600x1200. It is about 50% ahead and 89fps is a very good result keeping in mind how many resources the SLI AA 16x mode eats up. However, we clearly see than in the Quake 4, which engine is very favorable to the GeForce 6/7 hardware, Radeon X1900 XT CrossFire system is 10% faster compared to the GeForce 7900 quad SLI! " So it may look impressive but the performance is extreemly crappy for something of 2000 Dollars
so ATi's design is far more future proof as well , and it's very cost effective compared to the Quad SLI setup.
In splinter Cell ATi wins thier grounds too:
" GeForce 7900 quad SLI is not very effective here to say at lease. This platform loses even to GeForce 7900 GTX SLI, not to mention Radeon X1900 XT CrossFire, although they both have the same total amount of pixel processors.
In 2560x1600 ATI Technologies wins by almost twofold advantage: its guarantees excellent performance, which never drops below 45fps. GeForce 7900 quad SLI can achieve something like that only in a lower 16:10 resolution of 1920x1200."
