Uhm, PCI with 32 Bit and 33 MHz has a bandwidth of 133 MB/s while AGP4x has 2.1 GB/s and AGP8x 4.2 GB/s (all unidirectional) so the difference with cards which take advantage of the high bandwidth is very much higher than 5 or 7%.
Maybe the 5 or 7% apply to 3dfx-cards because they are not so powerful that they can take advantage of high bandwidths but with up-to-date cards the ratio is much more different.

About this adapter, am I missing something or is it a simple doublesided board?
If so I belive it is quite a simple circuit (but needs much work developing it anyway)

yes,the pcb is only doublesided, its simplier to make and it costs less.but no need to worry, the quality is very good (golden circuits and stuff
)..

well I have proof from bench marks that AGP 4 and 8 has a 2% difference and PCI and AGP also just a margin of 2 to 5 %, it more like marketing tricks to be exact, I sell videocards in a PC shop, we test all kinds of sorts every day, and really the differenct is extreemly small.
well I did find a good sollution, this company sells all types of riser cards:
http://www.orbitmicro.com/products/riser%20cards/agp%20riser%20cards.htm
at the bottom right of that page there is an AGP2PCI adapter!!!!
AGPIX32
Bus Isolation Extender that allows user to test the AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) add-on boards quickly.

well Obi-Wan my results were much different, the v5 agp version in my home test couple years ago against 2 different v5 pci cards was way different, wasnt even close, and i dont think ive ever seen a v5 pci at the top in the 2001se test? to me the marketing hype is that pci is close to agp, ah just feelings on it.
im still working on my modded case but when its done ill test it all again

An ordinary doublesided pcb has indeed much lower cost than producting a multi-layer pcb
About qualitly as I see from the pics got nothing to complain, or better said: congats that's some fine piece of hardware hehe

well that is rather obvious hence that the Voodoo's don't have T&L support, really gary tested the Voodoo5 AGP and PCI the difference is between 3 and 5% .
I've had a GF FX 5200 AGPand PCI the difference between the two in UT 2003 was only 7% at the max and that for between AGP x8 and PCI lol.
but here angain, I don't buy VGA cards for just 3D mark2001SE, that's a very bad test imho, the games that you play like UT2004, Call Of Duty Quake3Arena FS 2004 just some examples, they really can tell the speed of your card not some silly benchmark which everyone believes in, sorry I'm not such a 3D Mark Fan anyway, it uses lot's of driver cheats also, onwhich has been reported many times lol.

well I cant agree with that.when I was running my radeon9800p in pci mode (agp disabled, due to outdated motherboard driver),the performance was awful..COD choked badly,I had low scores and performance in most games and benchmarks.installed the correct driver, agp got enabled, and everything was suddenly running like butter..so I would say, modern cards+AGP.5=bad idea, even if you were able to mod the drivers to get it working..

The 5200 is a low-end card, it doesn't take so much advantage of the higher bandwidth of AGP, the slow chip limits the performance too much.
If you put a Geforce 6800 or similar powerful card into a PCI-slot the difference will be much higher because the card gets too little data to process.

ah, Obi-Wan i was refering to the top 3dfx v5 cards, not all video cards, im not sure how everyone else is testing, i tested with a 2500 barton running at 2800 w/ the 333 fsb, now maybe i had two defective v5pci cards or maybe with a faster test platform the agp card is faster, as far as 2001se not working, it works fine to test two of the same cards from the same company with the difference being agp or pci
little side note, my 4000+ score came with a v4 agp, if the v5 pci was faster i would have left it in there

..just to make things clear, only the first prototype is doublesided, the final version (and the pre-production sample) has a four layer pcb.like I said, piece of quality hardware
btw, that riser card Obi-Wan mentioned is not suitable for regular use.its a special riser that will allow you to switch graphics cards without powering down the pc,but it will certainly not allow you to run a 3.3V agp card in a pci slot..
some info
.

..figured its time for a small status report
.some parts for the "final" pcbs had to be ordered from US,but the delivery is delayed terribly for reason unknown,so the progress is halted for now.but its only a minor setback, nothing serious..stay tuned..
