Other bidder was going heavy towards the end but I had deep reserves on this one. I bet the seller was surprised to see all the action at the last minute. Anyone know who archon-online is? My most expensive card to date, so far ;-) |

Hm, never seen that name on 3dfx related Ebay auctions.
Nice buy on that Mac Voodoo4 :) |

1) Seen the name a few times during auctions 2) Never laid eyes on one before with LCD plug, the 5500 of course but never a V4500. |

If yer' gonna' flash it for PC use, be sure to backup the original BIOS first! ;)
Nice card! ;D |

Is there a PC bios for that card that has DVI support ?

I've seen a few of these cards flying about, I just never noticed how rare they are! :)
I suppose buying the card for 3dfx collection purposes is justified, but if it was purely to run a V4 on a flat screen, it would be cheaper to get a DVI adapter, which is much cheaper. However, I take it this is for collection purposes! ::) Regarding that archon-online, he also had a bid on that IBM V4 that FalconFly won. |

Yup and since I have obtained a few cards fairly on the cheap due to pure luck I don't mind paying extra for one time to time. |

Your unfortunate luck that-
1) I was watching it. 2) I wanted it. 3) Didn't win a V4200 16 meg. 4) Had money burning a hole in my pocket. My final reserve on the auction was $251 |

Holy shit, that's quite a lot. So perhaps next time. |

I considered flashing the card but have a PC V4 PCI already. Why risk damaging the card due to an opps?

That's why I don't intend to flash the card, I'd rather buy a mac to run it. Gary, live from the windy city via laptop with dsl! |

Don't know if I mentioned it or not- I did try this in a PC since PCI is PCI and can't hurt the card as far as I know.
1) Monitor will not power up on boot if only VGA device. 2) Installed on PC with 2 video cards (and it's the secondary device) Windows will detect it and ask for drivers. After rebooting in system manager the card will be there but windows reports an error. The "fix" for use in a PC would be to flash the card to a regular PC V4 bios or even perhaps the bios from the prototype LCD/VGA V4 card one of the board members has but I have no intentions of doing so. Just passing along some notes... Gary |
