Title: Motherboards with PCI-X compatible with AGP2PCI? Post by Komponent on 27.10.13 at 18:01:38
Hi,
AFAIK, AGP2PCI adapters have compatibility issues with at least some motherboards, so I ask for your help in sharing your experience. I am searching for a motherboard that has at least one PCI-X slot and has been tested to work with AGP2PCI or AGP5. |

From my experience the Asus workstation boards are compatible with the AGP2PCI adapter. The model I use is a P5WDG2 WS Pro s775 mb.
I have tested the adapter on a Tyan MPX2466 board but without success. The compatibility issue seems to be related to the PCI-X controller chip. NEC ones seems to be compatible with AGP2PCI while with others it depends. Cheers, G1nX |

Thanks for the info, Gino. I also tried AGP2PCI with Tyan S2466N-4M and it did not work >:(
The P5WDG2 WS Pro is great, but my hope is there are other older, cheaper motherboards with PCI-X slot that have been tested working with AGP2PCI... If you, lads, know of any such case, please share ;) |

Same here on Tyan Thunder K7X (S2469). To be honest, I think the PCI routing is pretty much crappity smacked up on 760 chipset and also the performance itself is bad.

The best motherboard I have tested with PCI-x and agp2pci is the ASUS WS P5WDG2. Agree with Gino about NEC PCI-x controller chip.
I have tested other WS ASUS where performance is really bad or even agp2pci does not work. Anyway, the best combo is to use an adapter PCIe2PCI-x (SuperMicro) plus agp2pci. Regards, Oscar. |

Hi Komponent,
Like Osckhar said you, the best combination is to take a MB new generation with PCIexpress 16x slot and put the Supermicro Adaptor RSC-RR1UE-AXL + AGP2PCI adaptor or AGP.5.
