Title: How can i get Tomb Raider Chronicles to work Post by Yogli on 16.04.08 at 17:00:28
hi, yesterday i've installed Tomb Raider Chronicles and when i tried to start it i got an error, a simple windows error aka; "This program performed an illegal operation and will be shut down."
Does it happens because of my voodoo banshee or windows 98se, or anything else? |

You shouldn't be having a problem because of Win98 SE or the Voodoo Banshee (the card has more than enough memory to support the game's minimum requirements).
It is possible that there could be a problem with your installation disk (scratches or manufacturing defect). You might try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. You might also try installing the game on a different machine to see if you get the same result. If that doesn't work, you might try to reinstall the graphics drivers, the sound drivers and/or Microsoft DirectX. Do you have problems with other games or is this the only one? Problems with other games could indicate a driver or DirectX issue. I tested the game under DirectX 9.0c, and it seems to work fine, so as long as you have DirectX 7 or higher (and it is properly installed), you should be fine. Another thing that might be relevant is whether or not you are using a copy of the game as originally released by EIDOS. Some re-publishers (Sold Out Software, Mastertronic, Focus, Xplosiv, etc.) make changes that can cause problems for some users. |
