You youngsters and your supersonic hot rods!  Ha!  In my day we had to walk ten miles in the snow and avoid roving herds of Tyrannosaurus Rex in order to get to the aerodrome.

It may not have been the fastest, or the most maneuverable, or the sturdiest aircraft of its era, but it was a fine all-around performer and it is my favorite in Red Baron 3D:

I waited this "note"

Don't make the error to mix the civil aviation and the military aviation, the first doesn't carry bombs...

Roll Eyes

but she can carry terroists Wink The Concorde is nice though, I seen her at Perth Airport, once for a show and with that the introducion of Boeing's New 747-400 that was in begin 1990.

But anyway, I see you're a Gold Member, You would be nice for Gold Squadron's Gold Leader Wink

The Boing 737-400 remains my favourite Passenger plane:

Just love those trails 8)

The russians were the first ones with that design, the Tupolev Tu-144 Concordski:

...

The Tu-144 was flew first in 1968 and the Concorde in 1969, the Russians had the original design, the Concorde is actually a copy of the good ol Tu-144.

This one is one of the last Tu-144's that ever flew, it was used by NASA and the Tupolev for the joint Russia-USA program for supersonic research.

You are absolutely right there. Take a look at Obi-Wan's plane the Sukhoi SU 27. A state-of-the-art aicraft that can do some very impressive manouvers. It's just that there maintenance is very poor and therefore there machines get rusty and poor looking (and dangerous to use too)

The Tu-144 or the "Concordov", like some people said at this time...   Grin
Even if the Tu-144 will stay the first commercial supersonic having flown (31/12/1968 ) but also a "short" career.

it was called Concordski and not Concordov.

here some more info on this beauty, it even flew in the 1990's Wink

...

A Tu-144 that had been in storage for years was obtained and modified by the Tupolev Aircraft Design Bureau in 1996 creating what NASA called the Tu-144LL Flying Laboratory. It was hoped the knowledge gained from the flights would benefit NASA & Boeing's in their efforts to "develop the technology that may enable design of an efficient, environmentally friendly second-generation supersonic transport in this country."

The program involved eight experiments - six aboard the aircraft and two ground test engine experiments. Between November 1996 and February 1998 the Tu-144LL flew 19 research flights. The follow-on Tu-144LL program encompassed about eight flights, focusing on extensions of five experiments from the first project and two new experiments to measure fuel system temperatures and to define in-flight wing deflections. As it became clear that no airlines were interested in an American HST in the foreseeable future, the project was quietly cancelled in 1999.

...

Specifications refer to production Tu-144:

Engines      4 Kuznetsov NK-144 turbofans
Cruising Speed      Mach 1.6, Mach 2.0 with afterburners
Passengers      140
Range      4030
Span      88ft 7in
Length      215ft 6.5in
Height      42ft 4in
Weight      396,800
Built      17

Final Production      1984

AFAIK, the TU-144 had (during Takeoff) only a Speed Window of 10-15kts; exceeding that would have resulted in structural disintegration.

I'm not sure they ever found a workaound for their structural airframe limitations.

I have a Flight Safety Video that shows one breaking up Mid-Air during a Flying Display in 1973, at Le Bourget Airshow.
