Hmm...I suppose you mean DirectX 9.0a which uses the WEB installer... Tongue

O.K., try this Wink

: -

1. Clear out your Windows TEMP folder before you start (you'll see why later!) Wink

2. Start the WEB installer for DX9.0a and wait for the files to download. Tongue

3. When the installer has finished downloading and is starting to install DX9.0a, QUICKLY go to your Windows TEMP folder (you MUST do this BEFORE the installer finishes installing DX9.0a or the TEMP folder will be erased again by the installer when it finishes!) Shocked

4. There should be some 'new' files and folders in there now, so quickly copy them from the TEMP folder into another folder (e.g. 'C:\1' for example). Cheesy

5. ZIP the files you copied as a backup, including the WEB installer EXE file. 8)

6. When you want to re-install DX9.0a, just unzip the files to your Windows TEMP folder again and run the WEB installer EXE...then DX 9.0a will install from HDD!!! Grin

Can't remember it's address, but google should turn it up.

I save dxwebsetup.exe and after downloading (when setup starts to copy i save the c:\windows\system\directx\websetup path. I ghosted back and copied the websetup dir back to c:\windows\system\directx and started dxwebsetup.exe again and it worked too.

P.S.
My system is WIN98SE and a preinstalled DX81B. Downloadsize was only 8.5 Megs.

This Site does not have a DirectX9.0a redistributable , it only offers the Web Setup, which needs abolve fiddling to rebuild a Redistributable package.

Although I'll be sticking with the web setup and using above method...it still works anyhow! (Plus I'm not going to download 31MB all over AGAIN on Dial-Up! ) Anyway, whicever method you use, it's still the same result...you install DX 9.0a in the end... PEACE! 8)

He at least tells you whats what , i found a direct microsoft site once but its hard to get past the jargon . And if you run 98 SE or millenium it a good idea to burn some of that stuff to a disk support is fast running out .
