@Obi

Yes the 3700A3 runs at 183mhz. I think basically its a 3400A3 card only with a newer PCB print Wink Like oschar said..very limited.

Well in that case, I wont doubt it anymore.  There was a pretty large amount of cards destroyed then. What is your speculation on the amount left?

I'm positive since it came right from the horses mouth so to speak. Just the intel revision alone there was 100+ boards made, revision 3 and last revision several hundred were made each.

oh wow that is still quite alot, and so many of them lost, maybe alot of them destroyed or would they still be lay'n around in the 3dfx base or at Quantum 3D?

then again we may never find those other cards. Hope they will shine up one day, maybe we are missing a type that we don't know of yet, like a Quad chip Daytona with 128Bit DDR, who knows. Undecided

Well, I sometimes wonder why Q3d didn't use VSA101's instead of VSA100. Because all they would need to do is ask nVidia (which still sells them VSA100's, don't know if they still sell them) for some and build a supercool Aalchemy (and one that uses less power).

Because the VSA-100 was a finished product and there was plenty of chips made and still in stock.

(OFF TOPIC)
Somebody knows if 3Dfx or Q3D did any prototype board utilizing 2 or more VSA-101?

Regards,
Oscar

Well I offcourse VSA 100 was finished. But the difference between vsa 101 and vsa 100 isn't that big. And I know that Q3d has some smart people working for them that could figure it out. But now it is to late. They are probably selling Geforce 6800 ultra's extreme in SLI configuration.

Most people don't know but it was mentioned that the V5-6000 was slated to be made with VSA-101 chips at some point in the future.

I always that that was odd considering the chips don't have the same pinout but there must be have been some advantage in considering the 101.

Perhaps fanless operation? Better ram prices? Cheaper GPU due to smaller micron die? Less power consumption?

I'm sure cost reduction was the primary goal, it almost always is in business.

Oh just the pinout of the chips and numbers made.

VSA-100 there are piles on hand, 101 was made in limted numbers and there is no performance difference.

Also the VSA-101 supports DDR ram and the VSA-100 doesn't Smiley AFAIK

Yes, but the problem is the BUS. CHIP VSA-100 works to 128Bits against the 64Bits from CHIP VSA-101. The performance is almost the same being a little more fast the CHIP VSA-100.

As we say here in the states- big whoop-de-doo.

VSA-100 = 128 bit SDR ram
VSA-101 = 64 bit DDR ram

The ram information is on my 3dfx triva page and have done benchmarks VSA-100 vs VSA-101.

Clock for clock a *Voodoo 3* is a touch faster then Daytona at the same clock speed and 16 bit color.

V4-4500 vs Daytona is a rout since the 4500 runs at 166 vs my Daytona's 143.
