For all I knew by now, this special T-Buffer effect that is the Temporal Anti-Aliasing, also named as Motion Blur should not be able to perform on a Voodoo 4 4500 PCI. I saw on various documentations that the only T-Buffer effect Voodoo 4 is capable of displaying is the Full Scene Anti-Aliasing 2x (FSAA2x), as this boards are single chip solutions. On the other hand, Voodoo 5's, as they are double or quad chip boards are able to do not only FSAA 4x/8x, but also TAA (Motion Blur).
To my big surprise, playing the game MotoGP2 with my Voodoo 4 4500 PCI (PC verssion, 1xVSA100 @166Mhz, 32Mb SDRAM) - courthesy by Rolo01, this special effect popped-out:

It looks like Motion Blur to me, the game's readme clearely states that this special effect will be displayed on video cards that support it, but how is it possible for a single chip Voodoo 4 to do Temporal Anti-Aliasing?

I doubt that this is done via 3dfx t-buffer.the game probably uses some other method of doing motion blur (so more cards are able to render it)..

I don't think so ...
If I start the MotoGP2 game with a Voodoo 3 insteed of Voodoo 4, the option I select in the game's launcher menu to make use of the Motion Blur just isn't there anymore, and in-game I have no Temporal Anti-Aliasing when playing with Voodoo 3.
The key for TAA in the launcher is:

So I think it is obvious that the game engine detects the Voodoo 4 as TAA capable, otherwise if implemented not by T-Buffer the Voodoo 3 should have been also suitable.
Long story - short, what I see in game and you all in screenshot is Motion Blur on a Voodoo 4, and I'm enjoying very much to play with it!  Grin

Tempral AA was introduced only with MesaFX as far as I know, and only works on Voodoo4/5 cards.

The effect is definitely not T-Buffer, since the Voodoo4 does not support it.

This effect is indeed created by the Game with a trick, but the Voodoo3 doesn't have sufficient Video RAM or doesn't support a needed feature to make the trick work.
Looking at it, it looks like a quick&dirty (which it needs to be) Blur technique.

Some other Games e.g. support FSAA by Software tricks, so they run even on Cards that don't support any FSAA.

There's actually a Software Demo to display T-Buffer effects on 'any' Card, nothing special needed, all done in plain Software rendering Wink

The only Game to ever support fully original T-Buffer Motion Blur (by 3rd party) is the modified Quake3, can't recall any other Game.

Well I thought Max Payne2 supports Motion Blur, I have tried it on a Voodoo5 5500 AGP @ 1024 x 768 x 32 @ High Details, + mirror's on. and I did come accros a type of blur effect.

I'm not sure if this was Motion Blur from the 5500 AGP or just a software rendering from the game it's self.

When I done this game that was with Raziel's 64 Evolution Driver 1.009 & Win98SE + Unofficial Service Pack2.

i just know my V4 4500 PCI couldn't handle warcraft 3 very well

Emulated or not, this Motion Blur is great for playing! But Voodoo 3 doesn't run this even if it's done exclusively in software, so the game must have somme hardware requirements not met by Voodoo 3. Any ideas? If I had another non 3DFX card, TNT or Rage class of max. 16MB, I would test them to see if the amount of video RAM is the lack for alowing Motion Blur...
But ... I'm happy anyway to enjoy quality gaming  Grin
