Title: Voodoo 2 Overclocking Question
Post by whygodwhy on 31.01.06 at 22:42:24
I have a question pertaining to one's ability to overclock a Voodoo 2.  I know that it is possible to adjust the core clock speed freely, but can the same be said for memory?  I've looked around for some time now, but I am unable to locate any resources about how to overclock the memory exclusively.

I have in my posession three Voodoo 2 cards; 2 with 120MHz memory modules and 1 with 90MHz modules.   Under stock conditions, all cards perform identical when benchmarked.  I was under the impression that the memory would run at its maximum rated speed, but the benchmarks have proved the opposite.

Is there something I'm missing?  I'm not really looking to crank the core speed, I just want the memory to run at it's full potential.  Memory bandwith nets higher gains at higher resolutions than just core alone.

Anyone able to impart some wisdom?

All 3dfx-cards except the Banshees have synchronous chip- and RAM-speeds.
It's irrelevant if the card has 90 or 125 MHz RAM, it always clocks at 90 MHz at default.

I only knew about 110 and 125
