Title: vsa100 white stuff remove Post by outlaw on 10.05.07 at 17:43:15
Ok, left the v5 5500 in the fridge for some hours and then took off the sinks. Unfortunately the epoxied white glue stayed on the vsa chips and not on the sinks. Any idea how to remove them?

used that in the beginning but this glue is so rock solid it wouldn't decompose. I m done now with the razor and used the liquid for fine polishing the vsa's surface....until logo started to disappear :D

What happened? Did you cut the pin on the RAM chip? ???
(picture is a bit fuzzy) :P |

The pin looks like its off the hook (no contact with the soldering point) and seemed touching the next to it. I tried to straighten it out and resolder but I can't know if its ok unless I test it and I need the coolers (on their way here) to try to power it up.

that really sucks balls. :(
good thing you got it soldered back on, have you checked to make sure it doesn't connect with the next pin through the soldering stuff?? Good luck with that, hope it works out for ya. but is trhere any other stuff out there that will help remove the glue?? I don't really have shops near me that sell that kinda stuff you mentioned. |

@ultima is correct - if you have a multimeter, check for shorting across these two pins using the "continuity test" setting on the meter. ;)
(that's the setting where the meter goes BEEP when you short the probes together). ::) If the pins are not shorted, and you have a good connection with the pin you resoldered - the you are good to go! ;D |
