heh,  I've done that before with Dutch auctions.... Only once though and not that high of a bid.  Thank goodness.  Smiley

One little rant I thought would be appropriate here: I really don't get why people start bidding wars when you've got like 3 days to go on an auction. Even putting a single bid in several days before an auction ends. It really annoys me when i'm watching auctions for like 5 days, only to have two other people bump up prices ridiculously a couple of days before it finishes. Sometimes it just gets way too far out of hand..

I used to agree with you on this so I know how you feel.. Nowadays I just kick back when they start those early bidding wars. It's sort of a let down when they exceed my max bid that I haven't cast yet BUT!! Then I know I needn't bother wasting my time watching it further and check back after the close to assess the damage.

I really like a good battle in the final seconds. It REALLY gets my heart racing Roll Eyes

I had more than a few good deals both buying and selling. I've learned over the years that some are too good to pass up while others I would have been better off waiting until next time.

It's all entertainment in the end.. You'll do far better in the long run with patience as your partner

Yeah i'm with you on that one - I'm more than happy to be patient with this kinda stuff, as you're likely to see something just like it up for sale next week. I've let a lot of cards go and have been happy with the few that i've managed to win (except for the dead Obsidian2 Sad). You can pretty easily determine what's likely to pop up again soon and what you're not likely to see ever again. Most of the time it's the former, so there's little point getting up a bidding war with someone else on something very commonplace.

I definitely agree with last-minute bidding - I can get a bit worked up sometimes if it's something I really want which gets down to the wire.. awesome feeling if you win it though. I can understand why last-minute bidding doesn't happen much anymore (sniping, etc.) but I think people either don't understand the system well enough or they bid because they then think people will become cautious and back away from it.

Well, technically I am not selling most of it.  The auction is mainly to see what there is interest for and what people are willing to pay.  If the prices are right I will sell pretty much anything Smiley  Heck, the auction only cost me 15˘ to list, so if anything it's just for fun.  ( I have no intensions of letting the auction end ... will cancel it before then )

My 3dfx stuff is just taking up too much room.. and 75% of it just sits in the closet.  I would rather spend that money elsewhere. (recently bought 46" LCD TV and a new computer)

PLUS I would rather see someone putting these items to use or at least displaying them.  It's a shame to have them sitting in the dark. Smiley

It's all about working the system.  Long story short, I've worked, and am working eBay's system.  I don't forsee them doing anything anytime soon.  I do however forsee myself making these kind of auctions again in the near future.  It is working out surprisingly well!

 Cool

~20 messages thus far.. not too bad.  The most interesting message yet goes like this :

"What is your bottom dollar you are willing to take for everything? Think about it cause im ready to take it all if the price is right??
Take a couple days and ponder on this and let me know but dont wait too long cause im looking everywhere for a good deal on these and have a couple bites but just happened to see your add!

Thanks,
Dave"

Other than that most people are interested in all the v4's and v5's.  Offers ranging from $30, to $180.  In the end I think I am just going to list them again for the highest offer and then people will bid.  Brilliant Smiley
