Title: Voodoo 3 3000 agp & open GL
Post by protoking on 02.10.06 at 20:20:17
Does the voodoo 3 3000 driver for windows xp provide open-gl support? Because when I play Quake 3 arena there are some crazy problems such as the textures don't load until i'm almost standing on them and everything but what i'm standing looks really blurry because the textures aren't loading right. Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

The Microsoft driver for V3 cards does not provide OpenGL functionality under XP.
Download WickedGL ( http://www.falconfly.de/tools.htm ) or MesaFX ( http://www.falconfly.de/mesafx.htm ) to run OpenGL games on 3dfx cards.
WickedGL is optimised for speed, but MesaFX is the most advanced OpenGL ICD.

1) Download some 'proper' Voodoo 3 drivers ::)

For Win9x:

AmigaMerlin V2.9 Win9x Driver

For Win2K/XP:

AmigaSport V3.0 WinXP/Win2K

2) Uninstall the Microsoft Voodoo 3 driver :P
3) Install the 'proper' drivers ;D

Enjoy OpenGL games! 8)

All these drivers are available from @Falcons 3Dfx archive in the Voodoo 3 driver section.

So do you guys really think that this will fix my problem?

(I'll try it later when my sister isn't using her computer)

Possibly :) it should work anyways, as it does with most Voodoo3 people 8)

Here is another problem that has repeated itself with windowsXP and 98.

When I play a PC game phantasy star online (original not blueburst) it will play fine offline but when I try to play online one of the loading screens crashes the drivers and I get a blue screen saying the driver failed.

I haven't tried any of your drivers yet but can any of you explain that?

I really want to like 3dfx but they have been very problomatic for me. the requirements on phanstasy star online is only 8mb and the voodoo 3 3000 has 16

ok those drivers solved my open-gl problem thanks guys :D

I think that the special phanstasy star online [online mode] loading screen might conatin some 32bit colors or something because it even crashed those drivers you guys recomended.

But thanks for solving my quake3 open gl problem

Phantasy star online is a Dreamcast port to PC (as with most of the SEGAS games from the thoroughly KICKASS Dreamcast - Rez anyone? [no that one isn't on PC]) 8)

Anyhow most of these ports were done in a rush - so expect bugs! ::)
