Title: Voodoo4 4500 5th Anniversary-Mod
Post by Chosen_One on 14.12.05 at 12:26:39
Tomorrow 5 years ago 3dfx was bought by NVIDIA  :'( ... but we are here to pay tribute to 3dfx...
Here is my little Mod.

What we need: Voodoo4 4500 AGP, Voodoo3 3000 TV AGP (damaged), DVI-Add-On-Karte (HP), hot air blower (is that the right translation?)

Here is my Voodoo4 4500 AGP:

On this picture you see a functional Voodoo3 3000. I do not use this one. I bought a damaged one.
Here I took the TV-Out + chip from the PCB.

And here is one little rarity. In this original packed box you can find a DVI-D-Addon-card. I could not use another connector coz original 3dfx prototypes had DVI-D-connector. too.

And here it is - inclusive Silicon Image DVI-Chip.

Here you can see the DVI-D-connector.

The stripped one ;) I disconnected the soldering point of DVI-connector and chip with the hot air blower.

Finnaly here you can see the Voodoo4 48...ähh 4500 ;)

On this picture you can see that I only connected the chips. No SMD-stuff! Therefore I do not own the equipment.

Original and modded one - with the new front panel.

This was my mod for the 5th anniversary...I hope you like the result ;)

hmm looks great !!!

So this would be possible woth the Voodoo5 5500 PCI's and Voodoo5 5500 AGP x4's also right?

even the 5000 PCI can have a mod for a second VGA ...oei! ;D ;D ;D

But anyways, does it function well also with all outputs, or di you need a special bios for those parts to function?

I suggest you slap on an extra 32MB of RAM and send the darn (;)) thing to someone who can get it to work. Perhaps Hank or DenisF.
