Title: Hard times! Post by paulpsomiadis on 30.03.04 at 00:08:25
Well, it was pretty inevitable! ::)
I'm a student and I've run out of cash... :P ...so I'm selling my TWIN PII / V2 server on eBay to raise funds (I need CA$H to pay the rent!) :o If anyone wants an 'out of the box' dual CPU server for REALLY cheap, here's the eBay link ;): - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4120812900 If you want an 'inside' view of the server, there should still be a piccy of it in : - This & That -> My STUFF... :D Link: - http://www.falconfly-central.de/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=offtopic;action=display;num=1077074980 |

Sheesh, you'd think that SOMEONE on eBay would want to buy a server for £100... :o
...even if it IS rather old-tech! ::) Hmm...guess I'll relist it sometime in the future... :P If anyone is interested, or just needs a cheap 'spare' PC - drop me a P.M. ;) L8R dudes! 8) |

Little Hint :
100 Quid might be an okay price, but the "Reserve not met" usually puts down most bidders. It's a terrible feature luckily not available in EBay Germany... (we had several auction Platforms that by default used it in the past, and they all ceased to exist within 2 years) |
Title: Re: Hard times! Post by DenisF on 06.04.04 at 14:48:24
My 2 cents;
It's /always/ better to start a penny-auction, with 10 days limit, and no reserve. I garauntee you will get over 100quid that way :) Worst case, just cancel the auction couple of hours before it ends. |

Thanks for the tips guys! ;)
I'll try re-listing sometime in the near future... ::) I'm thinking of starting it at £50 with NO RESERVE and a 'buy it now' of £100... :P ...does that sound about right? ??? (mainly cos any less than £50 and it ain't worth selling!) ::) PEACE! 8) |
Title: Re: Hard times! Post by DenisF on 07.04.04 at 01:28:49
no no no
start it at 0.01£, with a Buy it now of 150~£. 10 days, no reserve, and add a pic :) (it's free :P) BTW why won't you ship it internationally? |
Title: Re: Hard times! Post by paulpsomiadis on 07.04.04 at 18:49:57
The postage on an entire server rig will be HUGE if I ship internationally... :o
...even if it's the responsibility of the buyer to pay shipping, it will be a LOT of cash, which is again something to put people off! :P As for your other points - O.K. some good stuff there, I'll do this whn I re-list. ;) Thanks again for the tips! ;D --EDIT-- Item re-listed, go check it out! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4122867811 |

Looks good :)
Odd though that you listed it as having 163MB of RAM (?) I can't think of any existing Memory configuration to achieve a such weird amount of RAM ??? |

What about the motherboard itself? Model numbers? CPU support? Even dual P2s aren't fast enough for me anymore.

You really should have put 'international shipping' there..
Some folks buy cars on ebay, what do you think the shipping is on that? :P Besides, he who wants to buy that pc, will pay for the shipping fully. |
Title: Re: Hard times! Post by DenisF on 08.04.04 at 00:55:38
I usualy don't bother...
i just do an advanced search for itemN from sellers that ship to Israel, and accept paypal.. I get a rather big list of items in almost every case. There are rare occasions where i have to ask the seller to ship internationally, but that's only when there is no item listed as international.. Anyways it's always good to be truthful with your buyer, if you are willing to ship intl, post it. |

Good point amp_man - listing updated with MB model and link to manufacturers web site... ;D
Oh I give in, but good point DenisF - international shipping option added... ::) Patience - always polite as usual! :-* Cheers guys and gals! 8) |

I was actually asking because I was considering purchasing it, but it's good if everyone has that info ;) |

Need some help boosting the price paul?

Title: Re: Hard times! Post by paulpsomiadis on 15.04.04 at 03:56:33
I don't believe in asking people to bid on PURPOSE for me (I think it's unethical...) :P
I'd rather someone bid if they were serious about buying the item... ;) It's up to the bidder really though... ::) ***EDIT*** Screw ethics, it's not even up to £50 at this point! :o And the auction ends TODAY! :o Id like to get somewhere near £100 for it... ::) If anyone wants to boost the price for me, then PLEASE DO SO! ;) Thanx guys and gals! ;D |

Rounds up to about 160 Mb RAM. Possibly 1 x32 and 2x 64 modules perhaps? |

Did you finally get it sent to the buyer?
Is he pleased with the dual P2 server? More importantly, Did you get your money? |
Title: Re: Hard times! Post by paulpsomiadis on 23.04.04 at 22:10:00
Yah, I got the cash - but I've been waiting for it to transfer from PayPal into my bank... ::)
...the cash went into my account THIS MORNING, so I'll be shipping the server to the buyer TOMORROW! ;D Dammit, why can't banks be FASTER! >:( |
