Title: VSA-100 16MB mod? Post by exxe on 14.01.10 at 19:13:06
is there a easy way to reduce a VSA-100 based card to 16MB?
other BIOS? i cant find a BIOS that limits the memory remove memory chips? no, if you just remove two of them the card have only 64 bit databus left other memory chips? normal are four memory chips "512K x 32Bit x 4banks" per GPU the 64MB mod use 1024k x 32Bits x 4Banks so best will be 256k x 32Bits x 4Banks or can i use 512K x 32Bit x 2banks ? also i cant solder it |

I think that Komponent could help you downgrade the card (hardware way), and maybe provide a software mod (BIOS) for that - without the need to change the memory.
But...why would you want to do that ? |

that sounds bass ackwards to me.... ::) The board layouts are noticeably different, not to mention the lack of an AGP4X connector and NFR stickers. Good luck with your gimped Frankenstein card. |

He just wants to bench a regular Voodoo5 5000 AGP (with SDR-SGRAM) against a modded Voodoo5 5500 AGP (with SDR-SDRAM) with only 32MB VRAM in total in order to see if there are differences in speed.
