I have WAY too many collections to list... :P
They include... ;) 1. MANY, many games consoles and games... 2. Manga / Anime (comix, dvd, laserdisc) 3. Badges 4. Marbles 5. Keyrings 6. Stamps 7. Films (Some still VHS - but mostly DVD / LD now) My most current retro console collection is the SEGA MegaDrive... :D ...this isn't just for retro though, as you can see on THIS thread of the Benheck forums ;D: - http://benheck.com/ipw-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1517&highlight= Yup, for those who haven't seen these 'mini' 6-in-1 MegaDrives - they are available at Argos in the U.K. for £10 (clearance stock, so get 'em while you can!) :o I used Ben's instructions and modded one up for myself - now I have a MegaDrive clone that's about the same size as an XBOX pad! :o SHWEET! 8) (check the above link for my compatibility list!) ;) |

I can hardly afford to collect 3Dfx. I must be very selective and sell some to buy others. I may have gone overboard with the Mercury. Convinced the wife that it won't be around much longer. Now I have to keep coming up with excuses as to why I still have it. Projects not complete. Problem with that is a keep pouring money into it. It is my crown jewel that's for sure. Mixed emotions about finishing it. Prolly be on ebay in the spring.

That's sad to hear mate :-[ I hope it would just be easier for Ya, I sense your troubles . |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by LuxKiller65 on 07.02.05 at 08:45:38
Making collections has always been difficult for me too, since not everybody can understand what you might feel for "material" things (like cards, books, games, ...). I can kind of understand how it must feel for you, gamma742...

Now, do you collect Ford Mustangs or is it just one Mustang you have?
:P Edit: These are two different! :o |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 14.02.05 at 23:17:47
Cool , but personally every collection is special :), bun must say those Mustangs were very popular in Australia , my old neighbours still have a model 1966 Ford Mustang a brown one.

Okay, I'm a new registred user to this board but I have read it as a guest sometimes...
I collect old x86 CPUs, I have about 450 of them at http://www.alphatek.info :) Basically I came to this forum because I accidently bought a Voodoo 4 4200 that now belongs to OutOfRange ;) |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by gamma742 on 14.03.05 at 05:36:44
Hmm Maybe I have a few you might be interested in. To name a couple I have a Ti overdrive chip the fits over the top on an intel 386 and turns it into a 486 50MHz. (fully functional). And I have a NexGen like the one in your personalize picture (special nexgen mobo required).
|
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Minuteman on 14.03.05 at 18:47:09
Ohhhhhhhhh, NexGens are my favorite chips :) Do you want to sell it with the mobo maybe? I have a whole NexGen section: http://www.alphatek.info/nexgen/ but it's in french.

Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by FalconFly on 14.03.05 at 18:48:55
Do you collect only x86 ?
If not, I might have some CPU's around that I don't need anymore. (DEC Alpha 21164-433, MIPS R4000, R4400, R5000) I also own some 30-40 older x86 CPU's, but you'll likely have those already... |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Minuteman on 14.03.05 at 19:23:14
I try only to collect x86 CPUs because it's already a big domain :)
But I also own some Alphas and I have a fully working PC164LX + EV56 533 based Alpha system working. But as I say, NexGens are the "graal" for me, they mean something very special to me. |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Minuteman on 20.03.05 at 10:11:30
In fact I've never seen the mobo that goes with these LCC (Leadless Chip Carrier) packaged chips, but as the name suggests, there is a high chance that they had an LGA775-type connector.

Stupid LuxKiller65 doesn't really understand what it is that you collect...
;D |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Minuteman on 20.03.05 at 22:02:39
x86 CPUs ;D
|
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by LuxKiller65 on 26.03.05 at 17:57:27
I just took a look at my "new" PC and found the CPU was a x86 you don't have in your collection.
Are you interested in it? |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Minuteman on 27.03.05 at 15:17:43
I'm always interested :D
Where are you from? |

I also still have my NEAT (New Enhanced AT) mainboard with an Harris 20MHZ (25 when turbo button pressed). I remember the tons of options like hardware EMS and stuff. And pressing INSERT while resetting after misconfiguration to restore default BIOS values. Too bad that i 'converted' the sim's (those with pins) to normal sim's (so they fit in my 486) so i only have the normal 1MB onboard (in single chips) on the NEAT mb.

I also own a MVP based mainboard, the EPoX EP-MVP3G2 with 512KN L2 cache, it's my 8 year old AMD system with a Voodoo3 3000 AGP + TV-out 16MB Rev.C 5199 ofcourse as main VGA :)
Descent3 Runs great on the Voodoo3 3000. I also collect Crystals, rocks, fossils and other minerals. |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by nudgegoonies on 28.03.05 at 18:35:03
Don't plug more than 128MB in your EPoX Obi-Wan :)
Could it be that Descent 3 (just downloaded the demo) uses the same engine as FreeSpace 2 and Red Faction? Configuration looks so similar but i don't find anything on volition-inc.com. Regards, Andreas |

well I won something really old, 2 Dino-Rider's Retail 100% complete :D from the ICE AGE series, that's the final phase in collections of the Dino-Rider series. they are authentic 1/24 scale models, so infact i declare them as models and not toys , oh well, they do have tons of detail.
here my 2 new additions to my 29 part Dino-Rider collection: Dino-Riders ICE AGE Killer Warthog with Zar: http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=8625&item=6172718453&rd=1 Dino-Riders ICE AGE Saber Tooth Tiger with Kub: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5970698803&ed=1114817620000&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOTB:NL:6 and man I am happier than even I have been looking for more that 15 to 16 years for these two models!!! they are extreemly rare :P When they arrive I will surely make a hole photography of my whole 31 part Dino-Rider collection ;) |

pretty nice Obi-Wan,
I collect trains (american flyer) from the 50's and also so real train items, one train item i collect is track, i have 4 pieces about 1 foot long, 1) original red car track pulled up out of l.a. in the 60's..... 2) piece of modern main line..... 3) piece from mine from the 40's...... 4) piece from mt. lowe dated 1888, hard to get since this railroad was long gone by ww1, out of buss. and scraped for war effort, researched the railroad and read about wash out down the mountain in the 1920's range, found the spot and there was my rail, got it 29 years ago :) also i collect disney metal lunch pails, got abut 12 different ones. ah thats it :) things id like to collect are the old 10 cent pinball machines, i have one but i live in a studio appartment and one is already to many lol |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 01.05.05 at 02:08:37
well yeah thanx VDX search'n for somethang for like 15 to 16 years can be a problem but anywayz found them at last :)
btw, your collection is rather rare also man at a total different concept ofcourse :D My uncle used to have 80 different train types even mine trains, he used one of the best brands known the brand Merklin was his brand of choice, he never had failures or problems with that brand. he made cities, train docking stations and mine tracks, but he stopped his train collecting some 12 years ago, it took too much room so he sold the whole lot. A pitty though, it's good to see you go'n his way of train collecting ;) |
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by VDX on 01.05.05 at 02:31:31
ty Obi-Wan, it really keeps me out of trouble, plus its fun going out and searching for stuff, of course you know that waiting to find an item for 15 years, wish you lived out here pal, as soon as this case mod is done i want to do a lan party, Gamma is the only guy i know out this way though since its gotta be a 3dfx party since thats the only card i use. anyways it seems your collection is done on your dino's huh?
|
Title: Re: what else do you collect? Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 01.05.05 at 14:54:37
well yeah I wish I was in USA, never been that far west :), would like to come to your Lan also, anyway in RL [Real Life] things might look different , oh well still it would be fun to do.
yeah sure was, my Dino's gave me hope. I even been in the Bunbury Mail with the biggest Dinosaur collection known in Australia, had 384 back then and now I have about 480 and 536 animals total, all from plastic, andrubber, even the cheap ones like the din's from Coles and K-mart :P I still got that article, I'll try and scan it for ya. Well back in 1987 the computer was still in it's stage of like "just gett'n In by being populair" and collecting toys, Dinosaurs, model cars, planes, D&D items, Magic cards, Post stamps and the list goes on an on those were the thing lots of people did to keep them happy on what they were do'n. hehe I like the those times the most, used to do lot's of D&D with my friends. You stand in a cave and you have to face a big dragon you can run for you life so it won't grab ja the odd's are if he will you will be dear within an instant, or you use your devine powers with your magic staff and try and back him off there is a 60% chance of succes with that your you do a spell to cloak yuour self and he won't see you so you can just move along slowly with getting harmed and a 87% of succes, so that is what I chose :) anyway we went on like that for hours in small cosey groups of 5 :) we did D&D at school also was really cool, my mates were: Mathieuw McKenzie, Jeremy Craig, Chris Parker, Owen Scott. heh still remember thier names :-X |
