Mmm... Look at that yummy laptop :o
On-topic @ I wonder if the push pins will work? the V5 does have holes for them. Combine shipping additional = FREE That's nice. |

lol :)
Yeah, that's the wholre reason I want to buy passive heatsinks because the V5 has holes for passive sinks. I'm just wondering if 1" is big enough ??? Yeah they are a hell of a good deal, that's why I'm curious |

Well I can't be sure but there was I guy from VoodooAlert that pointed out that my dead V6K could have overheated. Donno cuz it was DOA when I got it. He pointed out that the board looks darker on GPU's 1 & 2. I think he brings up a very good point but the seller insists that it was functioning when he shipped it.
Have a look and tell me what you think... http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/3153/p70400383dn.jpg |

ouch :'(
That makes me want to cry. Yeah looks like the first 2 VSA chips tried to fry a chicken on the inside of the computer. he must have had it overclocked and not had a fan on those sinks. That would kill one quick. My 5500 with the stock fans would burn my finger if I touched the back of the cards. I use to have two super socket 7 coolers on it, but had to remove them for space issues in my old computer (which is now my main computer cuz I toasted my new mobo :'(, I went from running an Athlon XP chip with 1g DDR down to a PIII with 64mb ram [I apparently toasted my 256 stick in transport]) Good news is as soon as I get some heatsinks I got my 5500 back ;D But only on a PIII 750, damn the irony! >:( |

Pretty obvious huh! I couldn't believe that german guy saw it and I didn't. From a single pic no less. Your looking at a pic in comparison and it really shows. Just amagine how obvious it was when I saw it with the naked eye and the fact that both cards were mine :'( I should have caught it's :-[
The auction was active when I realize it and it was listed as a dead V6K so what could I do but let it run it's course :-/ It does make me wonder, was it "Functional" when shipped to me >:( |
Title: Re: V5 5500 Cooling option Post by comptech_69 on 07.01.06 at 05:28:20
I'd put my money on it being DOA, how much did you pay for it? I'll buy it off you to stick on my wall ;) lol
make my 5500 feel like the honda civic of voodoos ;D |

It sold on ebay for 711$ as a dead card.

still a shame that it died Gamma742 :-/
I think it was damaged with the postal services. and about the cooling for the Voodoo cards I'd rather leave them the way they are, just to keep them original hehe ;) |
