Is there really any need for all these posts?  >:(

Why didn't you just put all the URL's in one post, rather than spewing all those?

Honestly. >:(

And you wonder why the 'Ebay deal' topic is so long? It's because of actions like these!  >:(

Best thing would be to modify your first post, and remove the rest.  ::)

the people must search and find it self..

Well, since Ebay Auctions end after a short while, it would be indeed useful to delete obsolete Postings.

(after all, they become quite unuseful, and make the Thread excessively long)

Otherwise, I might have to start a "cleaning frenzy" one day, with all that obsolete Data (and thousands of dead Links)

PS.
The EDIT button really can be quite useful *g*

no , if someone is really interested in that cards, then he  MUST  / HAVE TO  sit on the computer and search for himself/herself !!

Is that sooo hard to dO??? >:(

I'm sittin everyday for  more than 2 hours on my pc , only just for Ebay, and it is really not understandable , so someon post  all actions here, and the prices go crazy !!!

IF you are a real collector, then you HAVE  TO search more.. simple and pain..>:(

i think this, ebay topic and the MAIN topic are USELESS , and should be deleted..  and after that  noone should post ebay actions here..

Everybody know the main link of the ebay and  how to use the search function of ebay - also search for yourself- (at least i hope so..)

If someone want get these cards too, he SHOULD BE ALSO ABLE TO search for  them...  >:(

Ah, im thinking i should say something nice so here it is, i dont wonder why the ebay topic is long at all, below is one of your post in that thread;D

A shrubbery!
"You're mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberrys!
Now go away or a will taunt a'you a second taaaaame!"

Hehehe! LOL!

I will be nice too.  ::) My post in that topic was off-topic, clearly,  I agree. However, it was in relation to Paul's post prior to mine.  AND at least, I didn't have the "courtesy" to post it 5 times! ::)

I will go back and mark my topic as 'OFF-TOPIC' for the purpose.  :P

@Sloomy - I can understand where you are coming from on this matter, but I would not like to agree nor disagree with you in this matter.

I feel it is only neccessary for the forum administrators to make the decision to have comments and URL's to Ebay, posted, or deleted.  It is not my business.  It is their decision on how the forum is run.

Although, I will say that I feel it acceptable and not breaking any rules, to post Ebay comments and URL's AFTER a bid has ended. e.g if someone would like to share with other 3dfx members, in what they have purchased and added to their collection.  Please regard this as an example.

In the words of paulpsomiadis, PEACE!  8)

Well, it's everyone's right to show things that he found and deems interesting.

The only limitation I see, is person-specific Auction-Spoilers (e.g. "I know User xx still doesn't have that card, and will bid tons of money on this one for sure, everybody watch out!" )
----------
@Sloomy

Other than that, I only get the feeling that you are just afraid of other people noticing the Auctions you hoped to remain secretive (hoping for that "lucky deal" due to lack of participation from other collectors ;) )

Well, just look for other Forums, special Auctions are almost always found and linked by others.

Believing you'd still have a chance of being the only one that knows, is completely unrealistic !

Forget that thought, for all interesting Items you (and everyone else) will always remain one amongst many.
If you want to win, you just have to put your wallet to where your level of interest is, quite easy ;)

Heck, if you take a look around, some of the coolest Ebay deals are linked even inside completely unrelated non-3dfx Forums, sometimes even by News or Hardware Sites.

The Idea of "being the only one that knows" is just an illusion, in 99% of all cases.

...and remember :
There are no friends when it comes to EBay, it isn't called "EBay wars" around here for no reason
====================

This Forum and its Members, many being avid Collectors themself, have a very long tradition, so in case you never saw it :

Hmm, i didnt know id make peeps unhappy by the first post ::) with the quantum cards, funny thing is i plan on bidding , and i know many others will too(many from other places than this forum), i posted for the benifit of peeps from this forum to share with them in case they wanted to bid also, im not selfish by nature and am willing to share a great find and take my chances, sorry if that offends any here, i dont see the point of posting about cards that  arent either rare or a great buy since there are so many of those cards on ebay all the time so it seems pointless to point them out, just how i feel about it, everyone else feel free to feel however you do ;)

VDX, we're not questioning what you agree with or disagree with.  That is totally your choice, not  problem! :) Just the amount of posts it took to show what was going on ebay!  ;D

Was a bit excessive!  :P

Title: Re: Quantum3d Ebay deals
Post by sloomy on 22.09.04 at 01:06:07
@ FalconFly

Why do i have to bid more, if i can get the item cheaper ?!  If an Ebay action is linked here, there are many users, that just bids for the action, that their names are listed in the action.. ( i know some , and they are not as  few as you thinkl!! )

Then the time we spending by checking the ebay is worthless, we have just to  wait, that VDX or other users do this for us, and so than you will bid  till you do not have any more cents, because eveybody knows the action and  MOST of them just bids for fun !

If you have so much money for bidding unrealisible prices, just because of fun bidders, than you can share an amount of your money with me, i have some things to buy :D

Anyway, I'm sure, you know,what i mean.. ;)

@ all

I don't still have changed my mind, everybody has to search for his own interest..

but the idea of "AFTERPOSTING THE EBAY ACTIONS " from janskjaer perfect !  ;) This can be another option..

Title: Re: Quantum3d Ebay deals
Post by FalconFly on 22.09.04 at 01:11:25
Trust me, most of the people found here most definitely will not spoil anyone by placing "fun bids".

If they participate, it will be to their best abilities, and with the competitive goal of aquiring the Item, just like you do.

And still, with EBay Items being linked worldwide, your Idea of finding that Item all alone, with noone else knowing, is an utter and complete illusion

Even if we stopped doing it here, you would still see them in other Forums. Sorry, but your point of view is just a bit naive, you don't seem to know how knowledge about rare Items is being shared among Users since years and in about all 3dfx Forums.

The price for any rare 3dfx Item on Ebay is realistic, simply because sufficient Collectors exist that just want it.

...and by trying to go into Forums as a new Member, telling everyone to Stop linking just because you want to save a few bucks... *ehm*.. sorry, but that's just plain strange IMHO.

It is right,  that  i'm not  experienced and old as you in the  3dfx world and doing such a great job for archiving  very important files and documents for us 3dfx fans, but i haven't still expectet such a sentence filled with insulting words such, that my  naiv point of view or that i have no idea of sharing experiences...  :(  This is an open forum, and everybody is free by posting his opinios, they shouldn't be blamed for this..

i don't understand this last sentence, no one will try such useless and poor think,  and everyone just will laugh to you..

I just want to say, that I'm also  members of some other collector forums, and such things like links posting  are always not welcome..
I'm not the only one who has this opinion, but i'm only the one, who is posting his ideas...
:(

Title: Re: Quantum3d Ebay deals
Post by FalconFly on 22.09.04 at 02:10:28
There was no offense intended, and no insult meant to be dealed.

It's just that we had Links to Ebay Auctions since a long time, and I've seen such links in all other 3dfx Forums I know in the past.

If you visit another Forum where EBay Links are prohibited or generally unwanted, that's fine of course, but IMHO that is an exception.
(and in addition to that, those Links are likely to appear in other Forums, where they are welcome for example)

PS.
The 2 big Auctions the 3dfx Archive managed to aquire, were even linked on completely unrelated News Sites, Hardware or GPU tech Sites. So anytime something extraordinary pops up on EBay, you can be sure you're never the only one that knows, even if one or two Forums would remain silent over it.

Yes indeed, you can bet money on that.

I will find them and say nothing, after all I want them for my collection too and I'd like to not attract "fun" bidders either.

Where all friends here... but when there is but a few seconds before the auction ends it's every man (or woman) for themselves as much as your personal budget allows. ;-)

Title: Re: Quantum3d Ebay deals
Post by janskjaer on 22.09.04 at 12:49:31
I totally disagree with us all not being friends when it comes to 'eBay Wars', as it is put. :)

After all, I have known members bid on items, for other 3dfx members who like to keep a low profile, and pretend that they are not interested in such an item!  ::)

That's called team work, and that involves members helping other members out.  The problem is, is that what if another 3dfx member wanted to win that item?  ;)
You would be helping one member out, and opposing another at the same time!  ::)

lol, I was referring to the Quantum3d AA card that I failed to obtain this morning.

I'm happy now though =)

Question now that I'm stupidly broke-

Does a Heavy Metal brick count as one card or four?  ;-)

Man my heart was jamming on that auction!

I know. That's what I meant.  ;D  I saw your bid on the card.  I must admit, I expected it to go for a LOT more! Honest!  :)  I was expecting to see a few more bids, given the interest this card earned from a previous post on someones misfortune of missing out on the same card.

Also, congrats on the Heavy Metal rig I just watched you buy!  ;D  That's 8 now innit?  ;)

tbh, I thought you would have ended up with the AAlchemy instead of the Heavy Metal rig, but that's how things so sometimes I suppose.

No I lost the first auction this morning for the AA 8 way card by mere seconds, I was the high bidder for perhaps 15 seconds.

I'm surprised to pickup this unit for what I did, I figured if one card was worth $400....

Just goes to show you never know, still not cheap though.
