I was playing C&C Renegade and the game dont detect me T&L (normal, because i have a voodoo3).Well I use 3D Analyze to test the game with T&L and the game detect it, but the graphics are =. And my question... If T&L is optionaly, Why emulate it????

Well, without making T&L Emulation optional, games like this one wouldn't even start on your Voodoo3.

So basically, it isn't really optional, it's mandatory for many of the newer Games out there. 3DA was an attempt to overcome those restrictions, yet with mixed results.

The used Cards can still fail, if they lack other features that the game is using.

It could also be used for modern, T&L Equipped cards, to disable Hardware T&L  for testing purposes... That's why it is not always enabled, and User-Selectable.

I could play Renegade on Banshee, but it was by far too slow. I forced it to run in 320x200 and even then, the game wouldn't go faster than 10fps. The swap was near full, as well as the memory. A very poor designed game in my opinion. Look at Warzone 2100 for an example of an amazingly well designed game. It was released in 2000 (I think), and in d3d, even on a video board like S3 Trio 3d/2x AGP whith the biggest problem: textures of all kind (4Mb VRAM), it run almost acceptable.
Renegade, and probably Generals are a nice show of lazy programers of Electronic Arts. Renegade, even on a P4 at 3Ghz Geforce4, still experienced severe speed slowdowns.
And from the few things i saw, it's near a crappy game. Realism, real driving, free movable camera, you must be joking...
So don't bother with this game.
