yep,I have been thinking about a x-24 for some time now,and having a full retail one was something I simply could not resist..and the price was not really that bad,"regular" x-24s ususally go for $100-150,and paying extra 40-50 bucks for mint condition&full retail is really not that much..I just hope those a$$h0les at the customs wont give me much trouble, they can be a real PITA when they sniff out a package from US..

ahuh I paid 87 Euro's for my 6K when it was there for like 4 days :-X
but that is because Gary and I insured it for the full load I paied it for hehe so there is some logicness there but still alot of money seen as an extra, they just like earning extra cash from the people that have to work hard for it, the mungrals >:( He3y ps47 congrats by gett'n that X24 :) quite expensive I know that Exxe got his for under the 30 Euro's :) but Q3D stuff is indeed extremely rare especially when boxed ;) gonna play some Descent3 with it? |

Well there it is with a fantasticly described interview from the seller himself, one to be proud of!
USA Rev.A 3700 this Rev.A 3700 looks very clean and little used, also it has an older based E-Tag. here some pics of this beast: Here anotherone but then from the UK!!! I came accross it on the Dutch ebay so thought that it would be nice a one for you guy's Id thought, so why not make a new thread since it's a nice new find hehe. UK Rev.A 3700 Well here are some pics: It seems that this card does not function as Gary told me, it has no Internal Hookup cable with Molex though the Hookup it's self has been done the right way. at the back of the card it's missing the U509 chip: and here the U509 chip on my card: that chip reads the following: SC2420ISW 0020 D01025-2 So that might be one of many reasons that this card may not function. May The Force Be With Your Biddings!! |

If the missing chip would be the only issue preventing that Voodoo 5 6000 from functioning, it can easely be soldered into place. The future buyer of this card should just try this small repairing task... (nothing to lose; alot to gain, right?)... |

Good point there! Because it is not like one could scrape the chip out of the PCB; it could not have fall-off or habe been un-soldered by accident; plus, there are no marks of removal by force showing on the picture... My guess is that there are 2 possible reasons for why the chip is not there: it was never soldered one to that position or it was un-soldered and removed by professional rework (if so, my Bet is on the hot air gun a.k.a. the heat-gun)... Who knows... Anyway, the dude who will be the buyer of this item can do no more harm to the card by adding the chip, if he wants to... |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by Obi-Wan_Kenobi on 10.08.06 at 15:55:56
That is if he can handle a solder'n iron heh, not everyone have stable hands hehe like I'm one of that lot.
and the other main thing is where to get one of those chips I suppose this is the mainthing overall hehe :) |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by gdonovan on 10.08.06 at 17:18:19
Don't discount the possibility the chip was good and removed for another board.
Try running a search to see if the chips are available. |

Providing that... :P 1. I actually had ANY cash to buy the V5 6000 (I'm skint at the moment...) ::) 2. That the chip was easy to find and aquire! ;) Ah well, I can dream I guess! :'( |

Hi Gamma, yea, I saw you betted on that like a week ago. I'm routing for you. BTW your voodoo 3 3500 tv works nicely. Only thing is the audio sounds scratchy. That might be because of the drivers or because the RCA cable I'm using was one I had lying around the house and wasn't ment for the 3500 or the cord/cable wasn't ment to fit into a narrow spot. Agh too, can only record mpeg 1 and mpeg 2 & only 320x240 with kbps unknown. I see now it's not the greatest of TV Tuner cards. |

Obi don't you think there are such people as ebay trollers? I've noticed them a lot lately. I mean, when there's another item thats exactly the same with the same price but ending a day or 2 later, the ebay troller comes in and trys to start a war with you. That's happened to me with Syndicate Wars for PC (who really has a Pentium 2 that they use anymore that has windows 9x? barely anyone). >:( There's not another v5 6k but I don't think that noob quite knows how precious that card is. Certainly the Voodoo 5 6k won't be able to run as fast as GeForce 7900gtx or the ATI x1900xtx. It's probably a spoiled rich kid, someone like Paris Hilton or George W. Bush. I doubt it's Falconfly or Gdonovan, or the regular forum users here (nitrox, obi, uhm... etc), but if it is, I apologize. |

Obi you know what I think is strange.... Those voodoo 5500 above... Some are agp 2.0 (2 teethmarks) and some are agp 1.0 (1 toothmark). That Quatom 3d video cards looks cool, erhm I mean the TV tuner on one of those things impressed me.

No, there is no AGP2.0-card in these auctions - the 5500-cards with two "teethmarks" are PCI- and not AGP-cards. ;) Furthermore there is no Quantum3D-card with TV-tuner, only with TV-Out. |

Offer him US cash, after all its a small amount 4-5eur or smth per piece, not such a risk. Gotta say I had positive experience with this method on 2deals in China. Anyway, if you are into it for more pieces... I might need one ;) |

I've had my Obsidian 2 AGP for AAAAAGGGGEEEEESSSS now... ::)
...problem is that I still can't find a case that it would fit into due to the odd design. :P (the T.V. out daughterboard goes to the RIGHT of the AGP slot - anyone know a case that allows for this, save for those from Q3D themselves?) ??? |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by gdonovan on 24.08.06 at 04:13:15
Any early ATX (1.0) case should do the trick, I have had several with a blank plate above the AGP slot opening.
|
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by jandarsun8 on 24.08.06 at 09:06:10
Depends on the motherboard as well though. I've had some boards have one of those ami or amr (what ever they are called) modem slots above the AGP port before. The slot is small enough that it never got the way of anything but it does give you a slot on the case above the AGP port. I've also had boards, that because of the layout of the CPU end up with one or two open slots on the case that are above the AGP port as well so it depends on the whole setup.

yeah, it's that I really REALLY wanted it and it was very tense to go allong with it, and yeah have to say I had a very depressive week, so card 23 aka that VMAC 5500 USA kinda pulled me out of my nightmare and put my mind on to another path, away from The Dark Side.
The past few weeks have been very rough, family members go'n to the hospital, good people that have passed away like my neighbourman which I knew for 15 years and good ole Steve Irwin, also flashbacks on what happened to my past and so on. That is where Card 23 came to it's place. I suppose my neighbourman's & Steve Irwin's spirit did call me out or it did feel like they did, that auction kept me away from the all the painfull things and bad idea's i had in my mind, that card made me pull away from that, okay it was expensive true there and at first after I won the auction I asked my self what have I done , what is happening?, well I got away from my fears. and this card's auction was a way of gett'n the hell out. Therefore I gave this card it's new name: Card 23. |

Nope, almost all of my cards are from ebay. ;)
The sealed 5500 PCI EU was in an auction with a sealed 4500 AGP EU, a sealed Powercolor Evilking 3, a sealed V3 3000 AGP and a bare Q3D Raven AGP at the end of 2004 (about 2 months after I began to collect)... |

maybe Mikepedo had regrets by selling it, or nobody liked it that much because it didn't have it's original cooling, it was modded therefore if some rare get's modded it looses it value quite marginally.
I suppose this might be one of many reasons it wasn't sold in time. People rather lay bids on something like this than just to buy it now strait away. |

heeh that's what a Voodoo3 3000D is ;) they have no TV-Outs ;)
I bought one from that seller about one year ago ;) the card is a Voodoo3 3000D which means it's a 3000 for a Dell system, just a cheaper model of the normal 3000 AGP + TV-Out :) |

I wasn't very active last time...
so my question is, did you (i mean all collectors ;) ) get any prototypes from ebay the last couple of months or were there nothing for sale? |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by NitroX infinity on 14.12.06 at 10:02:29
Apart from the Q3D cards and some factory sealed ones that don't come by often, there wasn't much of interest.
|

no
i dont get any prototypes from eBay, any time. never only from other collectors |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by TM30 on 15.12.06 at 20:03:28
why you do not get them from ebay? too risky?
|
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by paulpsomiadis on 16.12.06 at 01:29:12
Many proto cards on eBay are sold as 'untested' - others are just sold and arrive faulty or DOA. :'(
The same usually applies to rare cards such as many Q3D cards... ::) ...but then again, isn't that part of the deal with eBay. If it weren't worth taking the risk - then NONE of us would bother! :P |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by Rolo01 on 16.12.06 at 17:29:16
I agree.
But maybe I was just lucky, I got my 6000 and the Daytona AGP ( which is now in Garys hands ) of ebay, both cards were exactly as promised. |

Hi Obi, no, just the plain card. I did not intend to use the voodoo volts anyway, I think its safer to use the internal connectors. |

Hi gamma742 and everyone else :)
ppl been asking me about the sale so just wanted to say its reserve is set at 3/4 what i paid for it. also i'm only selling it because i blew out my knee in a game and lost my inside and outside ligaments and tore up my midiscus(not sure on spelling) i got some gross pic's if ya wanna see lol, so i guess you could call this a blowout sale, also i still have a nice v3 collection that i guess i'm gonna die with. . . :'( |

Oei, that's sounds like being PWNed in Call of Duty 2, like being sniped in the knee cap, but then in RL :-X, anyways I know how you feel, I hope you sell your V6K and other cards very well, though it still hurts me to see you in this state my friend :'( :'( :'(
Show the pics if you like, but I'd ask the admin for that hehe maybe there are indeed some lads that can't take it. Hope you get better soon and the best wishes too ;) |
Title: Re: 3dfx Related eBay Auctions (2006 2nd edition) Post by gamma742 on 18.12.06 at 21:24:13

I don't like it when people retract bids on ebay. It can expose others max bid (unfair)

Up to the seller to report the offence to Ebay and ban the bidder. |

I had I guy do it to me once. I checked his history and he had done it around forty times >:(
I banned him from bidding on my stuff but figured it would be a waste of time pursuing it through ebay after seeing his history. |
