Well, your "upgrade" from Win98SE (perfect OS for the Voodoo3) to WinXP is basically your biggest Problem.

And what Game is it that you are playing ?

Now that's odd.

It should run perfectly fine using Glide, the Problem might be elsewhere (other Drivers causing Problems)

Apart from WinXP, actually no.

If the Card is not overheating, the error is buried 'somewhere', could be any of the System's Drivers.

I assume Chipset and latest Sound Drivers were installed, as those can be a big source of trouble if not up-to-date.

Do you have ACPI Enabled in the Bios ?
If no, that should be enabled in order to allow WinXP to assign virtual IRQ's and ease the Device handling.

you could better use Win2K pro than XP with a Voodoo card, Win2K pro is even more mem friendly than XP and runs older games also alot better.

especially with a Voodoo3. Amigamerlin's AmigaSportXP 3.0 Gold is a great driver for the Voodoo3 under 2K Pro/XP:
