Post by ps47 on 21.10.06 at 00:18:28
..got a friend that is trying to add a custom resolution so he can use his v5mac with his LCD monitor,if someone has a clue how to do this, please let me know..the resolution is 1680x1050@60 Hz.

Except for modifying the monitor.inf manually, he should try PowerStrip  (or comparable Custom Resolution Utilities).

Hmm, this sometimes works - but be careful to check your syntax before you use the edited .Inf file... ;)

As for apps like 'Powerstrip' - they can also be problematic. ::)

Just try it out and see what works for you. :)

But be SURE to set a restore point before you mess with the system! :o

hmm I have the same problem as well my Wide Screen 16:10 Acer TFT has a max reso of 1440 c 900 x32 , exellent for flight sims :) also have Flightsims for my VoodooMAC 5500 it's the second VGA :)

since I read the Monitor aspect ratio's on the 5500 boxes the PC ones as the MAC ones, the cards do support 4:3 like 1600 x 1200, 5:4 like 1280 x 1024, 16:9 like 1920 x 1080 and 16:10 like 1920 x 1200 and 1440 x 900.

but is there a driver I should be using to support these 16:10 reso's because with AmigaMerlin 3.1 R11 no success here.

the only way how to fix this is keep bugging SFFT about adding custom resolutions to the driver, and I hate to do that..

heh it's not that simple I'm afraid :-/

I did exactly what he reported but then you get this problem:
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/4118/missingfilens9.th.jpg

the PC want's the 3dfxvsm system file as well and that one has to be changed as well, which is like learning an Alien language to me, it's easier said than done I guess

The Reso's I need are 16:10 reso's not 16:9 reso's

the following reso's which I have added are the following:

HKR,"TIMINGS\1280,800\60Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1280,800\60Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1280,800\70Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1280,800\70Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1280,800\75Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1280,800\75Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRA

HKR,"TIMINGS\1440,900\60Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1440,900\60Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1440,900\70Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1440,900\70Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1440,900\75Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1440,900\75Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"

saved the 3dfxvs.ini file but sad to say no changes after reinstalling the driver.
Though I did add the 16:9 reso 1400 x 1050 as well just to see if that will work.

HKR,"TIMINGS\1400,1050\60Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1400,1050\60Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1400,1050\70Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1400,1050\70Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1400,1050\75Hz",,,"GTF"
HKR,"TIMINGS\1400,1050\75Hz",Supported,,"BPP+8+16+32,DDRAW"

But that was a no go too.
