I've given my Ideas via Mail, but for all others to see as well, here as well :
------------------------- The contained readme states the following Minimum Requirements : 1- 32MB Card 2- DirectX8.1 compatible Driver 3- Hardware T&L (1) This leaves Voodoo4 and Voodoo5 only... (2) No 3dfx Driver to date has proven to be fully DirectX 8.1 compilant, if a Game's 3D Engine did thorough testing before initializing... Possible Solution : 3D Analyzer ( http://www.tommti-systems.de ) During my testing with Alpha Level Versions of 3D Analyzer, it has proven to be able to successfully mask any 3dfx Driver as fully DirectX8.1 compilant and compatible. --------- Since my participation in testing/enhancing this Tool has ceased, however, there's no guarantee the released Versions after those tests can still do the same. --------- (3) Hardware T&L can be achieved via Geometry Assist = Enable in the Driver's advanced Direct3D Options. ------- Yet, this is DirectX7 T&L only, doesn't work with Win2000/WinXP, and is emulation only (might not work 100% correct). ------- The more promising way is again 3D Analyzer, as it is able to mask the 3dfx Driver as fully DirectX8.1 Hardware T&L capable (Pure HW T&L). ================ However, I'm aware of no testing or Results of the use of 3D Analyzer with NOLF2.... Therefor, this is left to Trial & Error, to find out. Bottom line is, that (presenly), there is no other way existing besides 3D Analyzer to meet these Minimum Requirements... Greetings FalconFly |

Hm, so what exact Error or Error Message are you getting ?

No matter what setting I use in the analyzer I keep crashing back to the desktop.....The game will run until I click on play and then it crashes :(.
By the way I had to force 32bit in D3D in the tools or I can't select a screen resolution. |

Hm...
Very strange, but it might very well be, 3D Analyzer won't make NOLF2 run. Since it's also an early Teaser, and not even a Demo yet, chances are, it's still underdeveloped... Greetings FalconFly |

Okidok, I've gotten hold of a copy.
Using Win98SE, Voodoo5 (1.04.00 Driver), it will indeed not run... Trying to start a Game will crash right back to Desktop :P 3D Analyzer usage results in an Error Message right when trying to Load the Game... Really looks like a classic No-Go :( Greetings FalconFly |

The just released version of the 3DAnalyser WORKS :) for the Ohio teaser demo. Am now going to try the full demo. Will keep you posted. This is on a v5 win98se and "new world view" x3dfx drivers.

Title: Re: NOLF2 wont run... Post by Neutross on 27.09.02 at 13:10:11 What about the V3 ? Has some tested it with/without 3danalyzer. And are ther any differences between the demo and the full game ? Greets Neutross |

I've heard it works now with the latest Version (V1.52).
NOLF2 is now explicitly mentioned in the ReadMe of 3D Analayzer, so I guess they optimized it with this Game in mind :) Still, I don't know if that's valid with Voodoo3 as well... Greetings FalconFly |
