Sorry, I have been busy this week - otherwise I would have helped... ::)
(My widescreen telly died on me the other day and I've been Google-ing to find some info...) :'( Anyhow, I have a burned out V5500 with all of the components intact. ;) I will take some time out tomorrow to de-solder the four capacitors and measure their value. :) Failing that - Hank might know the values... :P QUESTIONS --------------- 1) Is it only the four Capacitors C67, C78, C97, C98 that are missing? ??? 2) Can you provide pictures so I can locate them fast (pictures must NOT be fuzzy!) ;) Thanks! ;D |

Sorry Guys, just having a hell of time here. Too many serious things happenning :(.
The caps are most likely .1uF ceramic 0603 size X7R rating is fine. The location you marked should be a decoupling capacitor. Hank |

Thanks to all of you for helping me out.
So, all four decoupling capacitors are 0,1uF ceramic - 0603 size - X7R rating? I've marked two locations... Take your time for answering me, I'm in no hurry. Sorry for all the trouble and thanks again for your time and help! |

I checked on my V5 and all those capacitors are .1 uF. If the card is non functional, i'm afraid that resoldering those capacitors will not help. I had 2 decoupling capacitors missing on my 6000 right at the back of GPU no. 1, but the card was still working perfectly. I slill soldered on 2 for safety.

I'think you're right...
Second V5 ( cap c67 missing ) works fine but as you say for safety I think that I'll resolder it... First V5 ( c78 ; c97 ; c98 ) is totally dead :'( |

Sorry to hear about your second V5 5500 @Max_R :'(
I would have checked my V5500 as I said in my earlier post... :P ...but I've been fixing a laptop for a friend of mine this week... ::) Still, at least you have one V5 that still works! ;) |

Don't worry about my V5... SHE is in good hands... A friend of mine will re-solder the capacitors... If that doesn't work I'll send SHE to Amigamerlin...
Luckly enough, I have other two V5 that still works at least ;) and another one is coming soon... :) |
