Title: V4 loosing TV setting...Maybe Bios Mod?
Post by Thrakath on 31.01.07 at 09:18:04
Hi Guys!

I´m using an Evilking V4 Card on my TV. The problem is that i have a Pal TV and the Voodoo switches back to NTSC signal after every reboot. Is it a fault in the 3dfx tools or is it bios related like as there are two different bioses for PAL and NTSC?Can i modify the Ek4 Bios to do PAL for default?
Or maybe there is another trick?

Thx Tobi

No one has an idea?

Maybe someone else owns a Evilking 4 with Tvout and can look in 3dfx tools which tv standard is loaded. My V3 in the same system automatically sets to Pal.

Maybe i can then get a bios dump of this card!

There is a 3dfx BIOS editor - but I haven't used it in a while... :P

...it might let you edit the PAL / NTSC default setting, but I can't remember if this is hardcoded or not? ???

Yo, anyone else got any ideas? :-/

downloaded tdfx bios editor...manual is in russian language, but there seem to be no option to change pal or ntsc.

anyone with a "pal" ek4 out there?

The choice of output is in the driver, not the bios.

I went through this tinkering with a Banshee.

hi donovan!

did u find a solution how to automatically set it to a certain tv mode?
i wonder because the same driver installation between a v3 (Pal autmatically set) and the ek4 (NTSC) switches to each. so i think there must be some information read from the cards bios...but if there is another way than flashing thats really better!

The output is controlled by the driver, it was a choice in the control panel.

I never had the problem, it always stayed at what I had it set for.

I had a similar problem with my old Rendition Verite V2200 card - before I sold it! ::)

It was caused by BETA drivers... :P

...try installing a different driver set and see if the problem goes away... ;)

...if not, then dunno? ???

Hm, one would have to locate the appropriate entry in the Registry (or Environment Variables, if existing), and make a batch File run at each boot to set the desired Value (to correct anything the Driver may have changed during boot-up)

how can i make such a batch file?
i looked after values for signal type in the registry and changed them to pal bdghi. but still in xp the card runs on ntsc. in dos and xp startup its fine with pal... any idea of making an automated mouse click action on startup which sets the mode to pal?
