Title: VooDoo 4500 heatsink removing???
Post by konku on 26.03.06 at 22:35:54
Please could anyone help me? I would like to change standard heatsink and cooler with something bigger and more efficient. Not for overclocking, but just for longer life of my wonderfull card.

My card is: PowerColor The Evil King 4  AGP4, TV-out ( standard, not L-shape)
Please help...

Edit:
ok - i found something about it - let's freeze this card :)

it works!! after 45 min of freezing !!!
now i have to figure out how to upgrade cooling system :)
there is no holes for standard coolers so if somebody have any idea just post it here :)
oh - i don't want to stick cooler with any glue again :) ( i think it isn't only way)

30 march: well - i sticked my card together with Pentium cooler with Zalman's glue  and it works very well!!!
The card is much cooler than before :)

Yes - heatsink is from my old Pentium I processor. I had to change cooler and now it works great! Even the top (back) side of my voodoo is much cooler than before.

I didn't try yet. Maybe for few weeks i'll buy Samsung Slim WS-32Z306V - then i'll try. Now i have little 14" Sony tv set - so  i rather watch anything on my 17" NEC 1701 LCD   ;D

What problems there can be? Drivers incompatibility?

hmm maybe you could try the drivers which Power Color used, of the official 3dfx Voodoo4/5 drivers under 98SE, though I'm not sure if there are sepperate WDM drivers for that problem, my Compaq Voodoo3 3500 has a TV-OUT as well and it has been detected with AmigaMerlin 2.9 and the latest 3dfx Voodoo3 WHQL driver., but since you have a Voodoo4 AmigaMerlin 2.9 might be a good idea as well, and if you are running a NT based OSA like 2000 or XP then I'd suggest give AmigaMerlin 3.1 R11 or the latest 3dfx WHQL driver for Voodoo4 and5 a go :)

Well - i didn't took any pictures of "her" ;)  lately. It works fine and i don't want to overclock this card (maybe it give her longer life). Like i wrote before - i just wanted to make my 3dfx cooler - but not for overclocking.
Anyone seen v3 1000 16 MB with 4 Infineon SGRAM memory chips and 4 chips from Siemens on the same board? Isn't it strange? Or rare?

w000t 5.5ns SGRAM that's sweet it could run 183Mhz core/mem and maybe higher also you would only need to cool it well :)

but yeah sure looks funny with the Siemens and Infineon 5.5ns SGRAM chips  :)
