2 V2's or a V3 3000?
13.08.05 at 23:15:36

I'm sure this has been thrown around more then 100 times by now but....... (honestly, just really didn't have the time to look) so what is better having two V2's running in a PIII 450 running Win 98SE or a V3 3000 agp?

Well, for that machine I would use the V3.

Keep the 2 V2 in SLI to go into your Power machine with your ATI/Nv card so you can play the lastest games and still do Glide.

tha advantageof a V3 3K is that it's max 3D reso is 1600 1200 16, and the V2 SLi can only do 1024 x 768 x 16, the V3 3K AGP is overall the fastest option.

lol, I think I'll go with the V3 in that box and put my 2 V2's in my main box with the 9600 and then we'll talk about style.  hehehe  Besides in a windowed case with a AMD logo stuck to the side of it for light affects.   Grin

There you go Grin

You got the right idea now. We'd like to see a pic of your main machine with the SLI in all.

hi Jandarsun8. Yep, the Voodoo 3 is better than the Voodoo 2 in SLI.

Voodoo 2 single has core clock speed around 90Mhz, ramdac is probably around 200Mhz, so not to hight on resolution. ex. quake 2 max res is 800x600 I think, vs voodoo 2 like 1200x1024 or something routher. FPS is also better, usually by 15 to 20 fps based on my findings.

Voodoo 3 2000 agp runs at 145mhz core clock speed roughly
Voodoo 3 3000 agp runs at 166Mhz core clock speed
voodoo 3 3500 agp runs at 183mhz core clock speed.

Voodoo 3 has high ramdac, 350Mhz(?)

It's both 2d and 3d. As I was looking for STB voodoo 3 3000 AGP cd download, I came across some benchmark testing, and the voodoo 3 has better performance than the voodoo 2 sli.

TV tuner cards Note: If you have a hyper threading CPU, disable hyper threading in the bios or turn off fast write. I have a ati 9800 pro a-i-w and it has issues with hyper threading and ati TV. I don't know if this applies to old cards like the voodoo 3 3500, but fairly new ati tv tuner cards have this HT issue.

voodoo3 2000 runs @ 143 Mhz core/mem Wink

yes all Voodoo3 have a Ramdac of 350Mhz. The best combination for a Voodoo3 3500 is with an AMD Athlon/Athlon XP porecessor, no troubles at all.

With Pentium4 HT you must indeed switch off Hyper Threading, a problem that AMD CPU's don't have, with all 3dfx AGP cards, Fastwrites must be turned off, 3dfx cards don't support that, so it's nothing got to do with your Intel CPU Wink

No, only 3000 and 3500 have a 350MHz RAMDAC, the 2000 has only a RAMDAC of 300MHz.
