Title: DOT3 Emulation?? Post by Blazkowicz on 19.07.03 at 03:30:27
I use the Wikipedo 1.1 driver under windows 98SE, for my voodoo5
and in 3DFX tools/3DFX Advanced Features/OpenGL-Glide : there's a DOT3 Emulation setting which can be set to enabled/disabled there's also '"Environment Bump Mapping Emulation (only Glide)" I'd like to know if these bumpmapping emulation really work, and how can I try them? I just tried Quake Tenebrae It prompts me "ARB_texture_env_dot3 not found" (I'm not surprised; we'd need an updated openGL driver) do these emulations work by just using emboss bumpmapping? or are they completely unusable at all are driver teams really working to bring DOT3 bumpmapping to the voodoo5 (this would allow us to run doom 3? ;D) thanks in advance for you answers, dears Falconfly and Patience 8) |

Hm, I've always thought this tweak must have slipped in by mistake.
I've tried it myself several times, but nothing ever worked or recognized it. Therefor, I thought this was simply an error, and not functional/existing. Quite alot of (inexperienced) modders took .inf Tweaks they found, without knowing any details about them. I reckon this is probably one of those cases. |

that must be the case
the authors even renamed the LOD bias setting to "Anisotropic filtering emulation" :D (from "2 tap" to "32 tap") and it's Trilinear filtering instead of MipMAp dithering |

Even if this could be emulated in software wouldn't this be slow?
Or might you be able to program in the extra funtion into the BIOS and support it through the drivers? Your fontrune cookie reads "It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others" |
