Title: ThunderGL wrapper...
Post by paulpsomiadis on 15.01.07 at 02:19:23
Looks like our old mate @Geri of LegendGrafiX has struck again! :o

An OGL->OGL wrapper called "ThunderGL"... ;D

(it 'adds' functions to your standard GL driver)

3Dfxzone.it has a news article on this: -

http://www.3dfxzone.it/news/puntatore.php?uid=4202

@Falcon, could you upload the wrapper to the archive somewhere - I cannot navigate Hungarian web pages to DL the wrapper... :P

will try :)

Any luck with this @Falcon? ???

(although my guess is that the news story I found was about a 'private' beta...maybe?) :P

==edit==

Looks like I was correct...

Thunder-GL forum thread: -

Oh crap, I forgot about the Thread (lots of work)....

Getting old :P

I'll correct my mistake and see to upload it today.

-- edit --
Looks like really deep into the Beta phase, but it's being worked on right now (which is good).

Alright, it's online...

www.falconfly.de/tools.htm

I do wonder, however, why Geri labels it a "non-public" Alpha Version, if the Download Link is there (?)

Title: Re: ThunderGL wrapper...
Post by paulpsomiadis on 29.01.07 at 06:20:42
maybe 'non-public' is some sort of odd terminology for "I'm trying not to get too over-excited and release it to everyone on the forum and the rest of the world too...oops!" ::)

LOL! ;D

Anyhow - it's apparently a OGL -> OGL function wrapper for ANY card... :o

...wonder if it would eventually allow us to run nVidia demos on our Radeons...NEAT! 8)

@Falcon - I checked the ThunderGL thread at 3dfxzone.it... ;)

ThunderGL 0.17 (package ver 0.17B)

...looks like you need to update the archive! ;D

[yellow]ANTI-VGA-ARTIFACT[/yellow]

Anti-vga-artifact version of ThunderGL helping us, to play OpenGL games with defected, memory-doomed, or pipeline burned VGA cards.

Anti-vga-artifact is included in the package from now.
Happy use.

TESTERS NEEDED!

Testers, with 3dfx Voodoo3, Voodoo5, ATi Rage, nVidia TNT/TNT2, SiS, XGI, S3 cards, ETC, and opengl games are needed! Pick me up at msn or icq to help creating the new version of ThunderGL!

TESTERS WANTED

TESTERS WANTED

Really. Not joke. Without testers, i cant continue the developing.
Tester means a human with computer, lot opengl games, old graphics card(s).

pick meg up at msn: gerilegend *_a_t_* freemail *_d_o_t_* hu
or icq: 428333374

Post by paulpsomiadis on 22.11.08 at 15:03:34
Would be easier for testers if you had a URL with a download link... ;)

...maybe a sourceforge site... :)

I would volunteer...but I don't have a 3Dfx rig assembled ATM. :-/

Title: Re: ThunderGL wrapper...
Post by Geri on 23.11.08 at 01:26:34
No, this is a closed test, testers are checking the tgl with specified game and specified card, and i on the fly modifying the code and rebuilding it for them. This can be doed only with msn or icq or another instant messaging service.

I have a P3 platform up and running that can be used for testing.

Ugh! I want to help. I have a V5500agp in a machine at my mothers and a 3500tv in my garage in an IBM. I really don't want to mess up the cards or the systems being they both work great right now.

gdonovan: do you have msn?
Hermskii: i added you.

Currently I'm busy testing processors instead of graphic cards. After that I'll be benchmarking some of my graphic cards and afterwards I'll be in to test it!

I have XGI boards at my disposal, it might be interesting to test on them :).

A Question:
Is it possible to play Call of Duty with 2 Voodoo2s with this GL-wrapper?

There was one, some time ago, but it was never finished:
http://www.3dfxzone.it/enboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1585

EDIT: It seems not to work.  :-[
I'll always get a bluescreen before entering the Game.

New version relased. It has not contains a lot of cool improvements yet - its just the newest working version with the new code arhitecture.
Currently it has no 3dfx card support - it will come later.

RaVeNsClaw: the newer version now does not has even 3dfx card compatibility. But dont worry, we are working on it. Those texture formats not yet supported by none of my code, so actually that game with some card looks exact like on the first shot that has been Doom made.

Dear users, currently, i need a list about OpenGL games, who are not running correclty on a specified card.

example:

game: Doom3
card: SiS 300
error: game cannot be initialised.

If you has time, please tell me your informations about non-running opengl games.

I currently own the following cards (of corse, from other card you also can say report, but i can fix them later):

-3dfx Voodoo1
-3dfx Voodoo2
-3dfx Voodoo Rush
-3dfx Voodoo3
-3dfx Voodoo5

-nVidia Riva 128
-nVidia GeForce2 MX100
-nVidia GeForce4 Ti

-ATi Rage Fury MAXX
-ATi Radeon 7000
-ATi Radeon 7500
-ATi Radeon 9800 PRO

-Intergraph Intense3D Wildcat 4110

-3dlabs Permedia 2

-S3 Savage 4

-Matrox MGA

---------------------------------------
Q:HOW CAN I KNOW IF A GAME USES OPENGL?
A:Open the game main .exe or its graphics dll in notepad, press crtl+f, and type:
opengl32.dll
Then press enter. If search founds it, it uses opengl.

send your reports to gerilegend  _@/'' freemail \m/(dot.)\m/ hu

I have a Voodoo 5 5500 pci Mac that i run through DVI with thunderGL18 on a regular basis. I'm in for testing a new version anytime. Oh i also have a S3 VirgeDX 8mb card with what I believe is a 3rd party FastWare bios chip and a geforce4 ti4200 with burnt pixel pipelines.

3dfx, the zombie that won't die!

The changes: the project respawned. ThunderGL in the current form is discontinued. The usable sources of it are implemented with together an another source codes of me. The new software called XXXXXXXXXXXX.
Becouse XXXXXXXXXXXXis very different from thundergl, i will start a new topic for it, and i will write a long description from it.

Haven't been with the Forum very frequently and just wanted to stop by to apologize for not keeping up to date (I remember promising to keep ThunderGL files up-to-date in the Archive and I hate breaking a given promise).

In short, a recent transfer kept me busy like hell (and mostly very tired), resulting in me basically not keeping up with neither Forum, or maintaining the website in the first place at all.

Can't tell when I'll get back into all that but I'll see to it that I'll put up TitaniumGL into the Archive when it's ready (PM, EMail me or hit me with any metal object onto the head should I miss it again ;) )

As I seem to age at an alarming rate (with all personal consequences, I often feel like an engine that just keeps losing power due to some wicked reason) I started wondering if I can still give the 3dfx Archive the work it deserves - for the sake of keeping the 3dfx folks up to date...

Many things that occupied my life and that I intensively cared for in many years appear to lose importance to me or I plain can't find the energy to invest into them anymore.
Just plain weird, although I can't find - let alone pinpoint - a definite reason these tendencies don't seem right and head into a direction I don't like (even by my own standards).

Oh well, enough of that, the way I know myself, one day I'll get mad about it and kick right back into frantic action *g*

Falcon, I think we can all appreciate your time and energy to keeping things going here and we all know there's more to life then staying online. Do what you need to do man, I don't think anyone here is going to be upset about it.

And not having as much energy as you used too is common, it's called "getting old".      ;)
